WHO experts and the Chinese authorities are still trying to determine the exact cause of the outbreak. The investigation has centred primarily on the National Institute of Virology in Beijing where experiments using live and inactivated SARS coronavirus have been carried out. Two researchers at the Institute developed SARS in late March and mid-April. The outbreak was reported on April 22 and the Institute was closed a day later.

This CBC article from October 3, 2019, talks about how Dr. Qiu travelled to the Wuhan National Bio Safety Laboratory. Wuhan is the city where the current novel coronavirus outbreak apparently originated....


I am not drawing any conclusions about how this deadly virus ended up in Wuhan China, but it does seem strange that Dr. Qiu worked at the National Microbiology Lab and with Mabworks, travelled to China, and was caught handing over other deadly viruses to the Chinese. Coincidence? You can decide....

A new coronavirus called 2019 novel coronavirus, or 2019-nCoV, (seen here in a transmission electron micrograph) is spreading in China. It is similar to both SARS and MERS.
The new virus’s proteins are between 70 and 99 percent identical to their counterparts in the SARS virus, says Karla Satchell, a microbiologist and immunologist at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago.
