4) rule changes - blade-style roll hoops
FIA Technical Regulation
15.2.4 - The principal roll structure must have a minimum enclosed structural cross section of 10000mm2, in vertical projection, across a horizontal plane 50mm below its highest point. The area thus established must not exceed 200mm in length or width and may not be less than 10000mm2 below this point.

benda ni mercgp yg memula buat..pastu team lotus/force india tiru..

2012 rule changes - revised exhaust exits - introduction

For 2012 the FIA has effectively banned blown diffusers by placing new
restrictions on the positioning of exhaust exits. These can no longer be on
the floor immediately ahead of the diffuser (red cross), but must instead be
further forward and higher (black arrow). Furthermore, as seen here the final
section of the exhaust pipe (one each side of the car) must be straight and
completely round in section, with no internal divisions.

2012 rule changes - revised exhaust exits - side view

As part of moves to outlaw blown diffusers, the FIA has imposed new
restrictions on the positioning of exhaust exits for 2012. There can only be
one exit on each side of the car and it must fall within the yellow dotted line
shown here. In practice this is a box 700mm long (between 500mm and 1200mm
from the rear axle), 350mm high (between 250mm and 600mm above the
reference plane, RP) and 300mm wide (see separate article for overhead view).
On top of that, the last 100mm of the pipe (red arrow) must be straight and
round in section, and must be angled between 10° and 30° longitudinally.

As part of moves to outlaw blown diffusers, the FIA has imposed new
restrictions on the positioning of exhaust exits for 2012. There can only be
one exit on each side of the car and from an overhead perspective it must fall
within the yellow dotted line shown here. In practice this is a box 700mm long,
350mm high (see separate article for side view) and 300mm wide (between 200mm
and 500mm from the car's centre line). On top of that, the last 100mm of the pipe
(red arrow) must be completely straight and round in section, and must be
angled by no more than 10° transversely, relative to the centre line.

2012 rule changes - revised exhaust designs

The new restrictions on exhaust exit positioning for 2012 are likely to lead
to much simpler exhaust systems relative to 2011, as highlighted here. The
lower exits positioned on the floor are no longer allowed (lower half of drawing).
Instead the exits must be located within a smaller, strictly defined area. The result
should be shorter, less intricate designs, with less variation between teams -
though never underestimate the ability of F1 engineers to innovate...

Last November at the young driver test in Abu Dhabi, Lotus (then Renault)
evaluated this reactive ride-height suspension system. It's designed to help the
car maintain a constant ride height under braking, which should boost stability and
hence aerodynamic performance. An obstacle could have been any need for direct
input from the driver - excluding DRS, any driver influence on a car's aerodynamics
breaches the regulations - but this is entirely mechanical and is activated by the brakes'
torque, not the driver. It's reactive, not active. As a result, Lotus's system has already
received initial approval from the FIA's Charlie Whiting, whilst other teams are understood
to be evaluating its merits, with Mercedes including a version on their MGP W03 project
and Ferrari hoping to test theirs at 2012's final pre-season test in Barcelona. The bulk
of the system is contained in the car's drum-like brake housing. Additional hydraulic
cylinders (1) are connected to the movement of the brake caliper, whilst the suspension's
push-rod link (2) is no longer rigidly fixed to the upright but can enjoy a few millimetres'
freedom of movement (see yellow highlighted area on inset) to offset the pressure that
would ordinarily force the front of the car to pitch, or dive, under braking. If the system
really works - something we should discover in pre-season testing - it could
become a must-have innovation for 2012.
