aik..kat sini pun ada citer bukan soap operas ker?
Tak apa lah...teruskan saja ngan board ni kat sini...kat sana pun ada gak....tak semua pengunjung sana rajin ke sini dan tak smua pngujung sini rajin ke sana....so tak perlu merge....lagipun kat sini mesra-mesra keluarga sikit....
Tapi yg rajin melawat ke dua dua belah board tu...teruskan usaha anda memakmurkan kedua2 board....

Ugly Betty follows the daily life of Betty Suarez, a young woman from a struggling Latino family in Queens, who works as an executive assistant at MODE fashion magazine in Manhattan. Most of her female co-workers are more attractive than she is; they often humiliate and insult her because of her appearance (her only friend is Christina McKinney, the Scottish seamstress). Suarez is not very interested in fashion and is sometimes clueless about the company's motives and organizations, although she does have a passion for photography. Her boss, the womanizing Daniel Meade, also lacks fashion experience. However, both are intent on performing well at their jobs, even at the expense of those trying to stop them, most prominently Mode's creative director, Wilhelmina Slater.
The series includes a serialized plot involving Daniel's predecessor Fey Sommers, who was supposedly killed in a fiery hit-and-run accident. Fey's name was actually used as the backdrop for a plot to take over the company, thanks to a hospital patient swathed in facial bandages who it turned out was Daniel's post-operative transgendered brother Alex/Alexis Meade. He apparently engineered the scheme by staging his death in order to frame their father, Bradford Meade, for Fey's death.
Another recurring storyline involves Betty's father, Ignacio Suarez, who admited to coming to the United States as an illegal immigrant which could put his family in a legal bind. He revealed his reason for immigrating was to avoid being arrested in Mexico for murdering a banker in self-defense after falling in love with the banker's abused wife, who happens to be Betty and her sister Hilda Suarez's now deceased mother.
It mostly remains true to the original Betty La Fea. It is similar to another ABC dramedy series, Desperate Housewives, in that it combines elements of drama, comedy, mystery, farce, camp, soap opera and satire, though in a lighter way. The show is filmed like a traditional network drama (with motion picture film), rather than the videotape production of the original telenovela. |

Trivia
There was an actual fashion publication titled MODE, geared toward plus-size women. The magazine ceased publication in 2001.
Although Fashion TV is mentioned in the series, it is no way connected to the real-life TV series or the French channel of the same name.
Despite being set in New York and it's pilot being filmed there, the remaining episodes have been filmed entirely in Los Angeles. Much like other television programs, stock footage is used to establish that the show is set in New York.
On Betty抯 night stand sits a copy of the book The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. America Ferrera plays Carmen in the film version of the book.
All costumes in the pilot episode were created by Patricia Field. Field, a resident of New York, left the show when production permanently moved to Los Angeles.

In the October 7, 2006, episode of "Saturday Night Live," cast member Fred Armisen spoofed the character of Betty by playing a look-alike named Fugly Betsy.
On October 30, 2006 three of the series' cast members, appearing in their characters (Ferrera as Betty, Mabius as Daniel, and Newton as Amanda) gave New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick a 'makeover' to make him look more like quarterback Tom Brady in a spoof that was featured on ESPN's Monday Night Countdown.[17]
On December 6, 2006, the United Kingdom's Channel 4 began to advertise the show. The ad shows seemingly attractive models gathered around a pool, but as the camera angle changes a model comes out of the pool wearing Betty's glasses, then as the models smile, they are all wearing Betty's braces. Another ad parodies Marks and Spencer's successful fashion advertising campaign, as well as Dove and Gap campaigns. A voice over then says, "Fashion has a new face. 'Ugly Betty' Coming Soon To 4." After a week of these teasers, clips from the actual programme were included in the trailers.
The show's impact on issues and culture has also attracted the attention of the United States Congress, where on January 17, 2007 California congresswoman Hilda Solis (D-32nd, El Monte) saluted Ferrera on both her Golden Globe win and for bringing a positive profile to the Latin and hispanic communities.[18] |

In this episode we are introduced to Betty Suarez, an unattractive woman in her 20s who goes to work for a fashion magazine called "MODE," and in the process is introduced to the harsh treatment from the more beautiful co-workers that she'll have to deal with. She also meets with her boss Daniel Meade, who was just named the new publisher by his father to succeed the revered Fey Sommers, who was killed in a hit-and-run that reeks of foul play. The announcement of Daniel being named editor-in-chief did not sit well with Wilhelmina Slater, the magazine's assistant editor, who greets his first day by giving him a gift with the "Danny" being misprinted (on purpose).
Daniel isn't so keen about having Betty working with him, so he plots to have her quit by giving her difficult and outrageous tasks, and when Betty gets wind of this from the company seamstress Christina she tests him by standing in for a modeling shoot to see if it was true. Her theory proved right, resulting in Daniel being the one who would be made the fool.
He would later regret his mistake when he realizes that he is danger of losing a cosmetics account and is unaware that he is being sabotaged by Wilhelmina and his best friend, a photographer who has been known to plagarize other works (after Betty mentioned a layout he did) and was responsible for the aforementioned shoot that Betty was in. Sensing this and after seeing a layout made by Betty, Daniel decides that he needs her so he convinces her to come back and in the process not only saves the campaign but also his job.
In her personal life, Betty also has to deal with her sister Hilda, a single mother who thinks that her college and university-knowledged sister isn't cut out to work in the world of fashion and wants Betty to join her in selling Herbalux.
She also gets a stunning jolt from her boyfriend Walter, who tells her that he is dumping her for Gina, her next door neighbor. After going to Gina's house to complain about her dating activities, and walking in on her making out with a man that was not Walter, Betty learns that Gina was using Walter in order to get a discount on a plasma TV. Fuming, Betty stormed out of Gina's house, accidentally destroying the TV in the process. Gina is not too happy about that!
Meanwhile, Wilhelmina pays a visit to a person whose face is partially wrapped up and it is discovered that the two are already discussing a behind-the-scenes sinister plans to take over Meade Publications. While she looks in the mirror she also says that they should keep a close eye on "...That Ugly Assistant..."
