BD Episode 23

Min-chul and Yeon-soo are on their honeymoon trip. Yeon-soo is unwell and slips away, Min-chul discovers her absence and is frantic, he sees her taking a rest and is concerned about her condition. Yeon-soo assures Min-chul that she is well, they have a heartfelt talk about their future.

They return to the hotel, Na-rae hands Yeon-soo a wedding gift before she leaves. Yeon-soo changes into the nightgown that Na-rae has given her but she breaks down in the rest room. Min-chul overhears her cries and is equally miserable but maintains his facade of happiness.

Sung-chun pays his respects to Myong-ja and meets San-jae but his faced with his coldness. San-jae notices his sickly state and helps him home. Sung-chun is ashamed of his previous attitude towards Yeon-soo, he is glad that Yeon-soo is willing to marry Min-chul and expresses his gratitude to her. Min-ji shows them the room that she has prepared for them, the couple is delighted. Yeon-soo expresses her uneasiness about keeping the truth from Sung-chun and Min-ji, however Min-chul assures her he will tell them in due time.

Sae-na and Na-rae has prepared a feast to welcome Yeon-soo home. Yeon-soo is surprised by their efforts. She meets San-jae and is grateful to San-jae for his friendship.

San-jae plans to rebuild Sae-na's music career and tells Sae-na that he hopes to find his future with her help, Sae-na is delighted by his words.

Min-ji tells Yeon-soo that it is Sung-chun's birthday and she hopes to prepare a feast for him. Yeon-soo agrees and goes to the market with Min-ji. Yeon-soo is worn out and Min-ji is concerned but Yeon-soo assures her.
Yeon-soo hurries to prepare dinner. Min-chul fails to notice her unwell state and Yeon-soo is reluctant to ruin the occasion. She soon collapses in front of her family and alarms everyone.

BD Episode 24 (Final Episode)

Min-ji is shocked to learn of Yeon-soo's condition and blames herself for wearing Yeon-soo out. San-jae consoles her and tells her to be strong for Min-chul and Yeon-soo's sake.

Yeon-soo awakes and apologises to Min-chul. San-jae consoles Min-chul and informs Min-chul that Yeon-soo's condition is worsening. The possible solution is to look for a suitable marrow donor among the others as both Min-chul and San-jae are unsuitable for the donation.

Min-chul and San-jae try their luck in locating an overseas donor while Na-rae, Sae-na and Min-ji insists on taking the tests and rallies among their acquaintances for a suitable donor. The initial test determines a possibility of Sae-na being a donor but they decide to keep it from Yeon-soo till the final results are released.

Na-rae notices Yeon-soo's listlessness and reveals Sae-na's test results to cheer her up. Yeon-soo is delighted by the news and hopeful. Min-chul senses her happiness but is nevertheless worried.

Sae-na's final test results proves to be unsuitable. Sae-na cries over the results, she and Na-rae console one another. Min-chul is deeply saddened, he breaks the news to Yeon-soo subtly and assures her they will be able to locate a suitable donor.

Min-chul receives a call from the hospital about a possible donor. Min-chul and Yeon-soo visit the doctor and are told about the high risks involve if she decides to go through the operation. Min-chul is worried but Yeon-soo insists on the operation. The couple reassures one another and speak optimistically about their future.

Min-chul waits anxiously outside the operating theatre. Yeon-soo finally emerges from the operating theatre, she holds on to Min-chul in her semi-conscious state. Min-chul is overjoyed by the success.

Min-chul, Yeon-soo and San-jae are at the concert. Sae-na is back on the stage performing, she has achieved her dreams of being a successful singer.

Thanks Seablue for the review.....yelah, almost all K-dramas tend to drag in the middle, even BD in some scenes.....unfortunately :cf:. Tapi tak pa, walaupun SHK doesn't really shine in the Guardian Angel, I'm watching it for the sake of KMJ. Nak tengok his acting......since I've heard about him quite a bit ;).

I'm not sure whether LBH akan berlakon lagi dengan SHK in the near future.  Maybe tak kot sebab terlalu banyak speculations about them after ALL IN. Tapi they did do 2 cfs together. Personally saya tak sabar nak tengok apa LBH's next project will be. Dengarnya he'll be doing a movie this time as that is his number one passion. But at the moment, both of them are just taking a break after ALL IN and doing a lot of commercial films.

Tapi tak tahulah, kalau LBH akan berlakon drama lagi since dia dah bebas dari kontraknya dengan SBS.  Secara peribadi, saya nak tengok LBH berlakon drama bersiri bersama pelakon wanita yang lain pula. As an actor, he has excellent on-screen chemistry with his leading actress.

Thanks Seablue for the info pasal All In di Astro.  Malay subtitle dalam vcd ni memang memeningkan kepala.....tengok ajelah vcd BD punya subs. Sabar jelah....at least the audio's in Korean. Itu yang jadi pengubat hati....

Referring to your posting, betul tu.....some of us here sebenarnya tengok Beautiful Days masa di TV 2 dulu. Lepas tu baru cari vcdnya. Except for new fans yang only tengok BD after watching Lee Byung Hun dalam  ALL IN. Cuma, tak seperti vcd All In yang readily available in Korean version, vcd Beautiful Days dalam versi asal sangat-sangat susah nak dapat. Ada di pasaran tapi jenuh nak mencarinya. Only in the original version, barulah Beautiful Days betul-betul best.  IMHO, Beautiful Days was and still the best Korean drama yang pernah disiarkan oleh TV2. Come to think of it, the Korean dramas on TV2 are not that bad except for a few major bad points.

* Saya sebenarnya dah beberapa kali tulis pasal Korean dramas on TV2 ni, so please, forgive me if I sound like a broken-record .  


Good points:

1- First and foremost, it's in the original Korean version. Tak faham kenapa TV3 & ntv7 tak boleh buat macam TV2.

2- The subtitles were almost perfect, even the names of the actors were being translated from Hangul.

3- Minimum adverts - masa Beautiful Days especially, the airing time selalunya lebihkurang 56 min dalam slot 1 jam; meaning about 4 minit sahaja untuk iklan.


Bad points:

1- Timing waktu petang. Tak ramai yang tengok masa ni, maklumlah waktu pejabat.

2-Tiada promo, tiada trailer......nothing at all. Kena pandai-pandai sendiri. Inilah kelemahan utama TV2.

3- Missing subtitles pada episod-episod awal......tension dibuatnya.

4- Banyak cuts – not just the 'kissing scenes' (itu memanglah tak dapat dielakkan) but also a lot of the normal scenes.

Hmm....good question, Rhyno. Truthfully speaking, walaupun dah berkali-kali tengok I really, really don't mind watching Beautiful Days on tv lagi sekali. Cuma kalau TV3 yang siarkan, it will be dubbed in Mandarin. Maka, tak dapatlah kita dengar the cast's own voices especially LBH's deep voice.

Now, kalau TV2 yang repeat.....it'll be the original version but timingnya pula mesti tak sesuai seperti dulu juga. But then, chances TV2 nak repeat ni ada ke tidak? Nampak macam this particular channel tak begitu mementingkan permintaan penonton. A lot of requests have been made tapi macam tiada kesan.....

Sorry pada those yang belum berkesempatan nak tengok Beautiful Days sebab kebanyakan posting dan images dalam thread ni adalah spoilers BD. Nonetheless, kalau baca episode guide dan tengok image captures pun taklah give away the story completely sebab ceritanya taklah as straightforward macam yang dibincang di sini. There are more to it.

Actors' profiling &  some personal comments



Lee Min-chul ( Actor: Lee Byung Hun)
Decisive and arrogant, Min-chul is the son of Lee Sung-chun. His father’s marriage leads to a long-standing hostility with his step-brother, Lee San-jae. His greatest concern is his sister, Min-ji, who is rebellious and confused in life. He is strongly attracted to Yeon-soo and opens his heart to her however, the realisation of his father’s past crime threatens to destroy his newly found happiness.

Komen:
Lee Byung Hun sebagai Min-chul memang tepat......the role was meant for him. Walau apa watak yang dibawa, LBH memang versatile. First time tengok Min-chul memang benci dengan perangainya tapi itulah yang menjadi kekuatan wataknya. My first impression was that, wow...this actor can really act and he has incredible screen presence. First time tengok LBH in BD itulah yang meninggalkan lasting impression on overall Korean dramas. No offence to anyone but IMHO, LBH sets the standard for charismatic acting. Now, you can always say that I'm biased. Walaupun jalan cerita BD ini sepatutnya memihak kepada hubungan Yeon-soo & Seon-jae tetapi LBH menjadikan watak Min-chul menjadi terlalu 'kuat' untuk diketepikan.

Kim Yeon-soo (Actress: Choi Ji Woo)
Gentle and optimistic, Yeon-soo is an orphan with a zest for life and dreams of being an artist. She devotes her sisterly love to Sae-na, despite their misunderstanding. As Min-ji’s governess, she patiently guides her in life, in spite of Min-ji’s hostility. Despite San-jae’s affection for her, she stands firm in her love for Min-chul however her illness lands her in an emotional struggle of her love for Min-chul.

Komen:
Walaupun CJW selalu dapat watak damsel-in-distress tapi tak dinafikan that she always have good chemistry dengan her leading men seperti KSW, JDG, RSW, LBH dan BYJ. She is one of the few actresses yang berpeluang berlakon dengan some of the best leading actors. Cuma wataknya yang selalu diterima agak stereotyped iaitu selalu menangis but that’s the pattern of most K-dramas, hampir kebanyakannya menampilkan heroin yang begitu. Her on-screen chemistry with LBH was great.....they compliment each other nicely.

Some info on CJW’s latest project
15th August 2003: Choi Ji-woo will be starring in the first ever drama made jointly by Korea, China and Japan. The drama is the 1991 hit Japanese TV show "101st Propose" that was remade in China. Choi Ji-woo will be receiving 1800-man won ($15,300) guarantee per episode. Her counterparts will be played by Andy Hui and Jordan Chan Siu Chun. The original 12 episode script will be extended to 20 episodes by Choi Wan-kyu, who also wrote "All In" and "Huh Joon". Filming will begin on September 15 in Shanghai, China and Cheju Island, Korea until early December. It will begin airing in March 2004 in China, Japan and Southeast Asia. It has not yet been settled when the drama will air in Korea.

Lee San-jae (Actor: Ryu Si Won)

Komen:
Walaupun dalam Beautiful Days Ryu Si Won tak memegang watak utama seperti drama-dramanya yang lain tapi watak Seon-jae bukanlah watak sampingan yang ringan.  ZERO lakonan RSW merupakan antara jalan cerita awal yang menggerakkan BD ini.  Berbanding dengan Purity, Truth & Propose sebelumnya, RSW nampak really young and student-looking in Beautiful Days. He even looked younger than CJW (yang sebenarnya muda 3 tahun dari RSW). Suka tengok scene ‘cat & mouse’ antara Min-chul dengan Seon-jae pada awal BD berkaitan dengan identity Zero, ada elemen suspen. Juga hubungan mereka yang 'malang' menarik rasa simpati dan sedih kepada drama ini.

Kim Sae-na (Singer: Lee Jung Hyun)
Wilful but kind at heart, Sae-na harbours dreams of being a successful singer. Orphaned since young, she finds a friend in Yeon-soo but her misunderstanding towards Yeon-soo creates a rift in their sisterly love. Sae-na develops a crush on San-jae but is dismayed to learn of his affections for Yeon-soo, this further threatens her trust for Yeon-soo. However, Yeon-soo’s sincerity and illness touches her and they rebuild their relationship.

Komen:
Lee Jung Hun – seorang penyanyi remaja yang popular di Korea. Jadi senang dia nak berlakon sebagai penyanyi. Dia berjaya membawakan watak Sae-na yang agak 'teruk' cara nyanyiannya pada awalnya, Cuma wataknya sebagai Sae-na, IMO agak over juga sometimes.  Sebagai adik yang dimanjakan oleh Yeon-soo,  perangainya memang memeningkan kepala. Walaupun Sae-na sukakan Seon-jae tapi nampak macam tak sesuai sebagai couple, maybe that's why tiada follow-up pasal mereka in the end.


Some info on LJH’s latest project
5th August 2003:Lee Jung Hyun recently had to turn down an offer to play Lara Croft for the Korean version of the music video for “Tomb Raider 2: The Cradle of Life” due to her summer album activities. Lee Jung Hyun who is currently performing her summer hit song “Summer Dance” was already supposed to shoot the music video for her follow up song “Ya!” around the same time as the scheduled shooting for the “Tomb Raider” MV. Lee Jung Hyun got the offer after it was proposed that her techno image fit well with that of Lara Croft’s. The original music video for “Tomb Raider 2” features Korn’s “Did My Time” and Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft.

Shin Min Ah - pelakon muda yang masih bersekolah tinggi ni memang berbakat. Tak nampak macam baru first time berlakon drama. Maybe sebab dah biasa dengan modeling & cf. Paling suka tengok scene Min-ji dengan abangnya.....good on-screen chemistry dengan LBH. Selepas Beautiful Days, SMA terus berlakon filem Volcano High dengan Jang Hyuk (hero Bright Girl) dan Madeleine dengan Jo In-sung. And this girl sangatlah photogenic.

* so far, dah 2 orang cakap yang Min Ji ni 'garang' macam Apatcha in Phoenix Blood ^_^.

Kang Na-rae (Actress: Lee Yu Jin)
Boisterous and helpful, Na-rae is Yeon-soo's closest friend and confidante. She showers her with much care and shares her responsibility for Sae-na . She strongly objects to Yeon-soo's love for Min-chul due to the discrepancy in their status, however, she later plays a major part in their reconciliation. With Sae-na’s step into stardom, she fulfils her dreams of being an artiste manager.

Komen:
Model dan emcee yang popular. First time tengok Lee Yoo Jin dalam drama Love and Ambition bersama  PJC.  Cantik dia ni, maklumlah berdarah campuran. Antara watak yang paling disukai dalam Beautiful Days. Menjadi orang tengah dalam hubungan MC & YS. Kalau tak ada Na-rae, BD mungkin akan jadi terlalu serius.

Hmm.....nak kata familiar tu taklah jugak tapi mungkin dia pernah muncul sebagai pelakon sampingan seperti watak masa kanak-kanak dalam sesuatu drama. Drama TV3 jarang berbentuk drama keluarga kecuali Present.

Kalau drama TV2 pula, rasanya....tak pernah nampak the child-actor yang memegang watak Da Hee ni. Mungkin juga terlepas pandang. Nanti, we'll check her profile....to be sure, ok ;).
