Charlie Hebdo Attack and Mossad Link: Is Israel Venting Its Fury For France's Recognition of Palestine State?
By Gopi Chandra Kharel January 8, 2015 13:35 IST
There is no clarity on which organisation is behind the attack on French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo in Paris on Wednesday and therefore, conspiracy theories are gaining traction in internet forums.
Fingers are being pointed toward intelligence agencies and Mossad of Israel is a prime contender.
It is believed that Israel has a grouse against France, especially because French MPs voted in favour of recognising the Palestinian state and also France voted against Israel at the UN recently, conspiracy bloggers such as 'Aangirfan' note.
In Early December 2014, when France's lower house of parliament voted 339 votes to 151 urging the government to recognise the Palestinian state, Israel was patently unhappy. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the vote a "grave mistake".
Israel had warned France of grave consequences even before the country voted in favour of Palestine. Speaking to reporters in Jerusalem, France 24 reported Netanyahu as saying that time: "Do they have nothing better to do at a time of beheadings across the Middle East, including that of a French citizen? Recognition of a Palestinian state by France would be a grave mistake.
"The State of Israel is the homeland of the Jewish people, the only state that we have, and the Palestinians demanding a state do not want to recognise the right to have a state for the Jewish people."
Israel, last week, also expressed its "deep disappointment" with France for voting for a Palestinian resolution at the UN Security Council and calling for a full IDF withdrawal to the pre-1967 lines by the end of 2017, the Jerusalem Post reported.
France was one of eight countries supporting Palestine in the Security Council – although it fell one-vote short of the nine necessary to pass.
Although there is no way to verify the claims that Mossad was involved, the backdrop in which the attack took place seems to indicate that it might be involved, many conspiracy theorists have noted. Mossad is responsible for intelligence collection and has undertaken many covert operations for Israel in Europe that aim to further their Jewish cause.

Kiranya korang yg backing Charlie Chaplin Hebodo tu lg perasan bgs dari Che Det yg x suka cara majallah suka provoke org lain wpun dia xlah menyukom that bloody massacre. Tapi tu lah meka2 ni dh terlebeh ilmu doniya jd perasan bgslh

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 8 ― Even as the world mourns the lives lost in a shooting at a French satire magazine office, Malaysia’s Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin mocked today the need to protect satire that is “racist, xenophobic, bigoted”.
The fatal attack sparked condemnation all over the world and debate about the freedom of speech.
Posting on Twitter in response to the US Embassy KL, which said satire should be protected because it is “intended to provoke thought”, Khairy alluded that exceptions had to be made when the content of the satire is offensive.
“Even racist, xenophobic, bigoted satire? Please. I condemn the murders. Like I condemned the cartoons,” he posted on Twitter.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak joined other world leaders in condemning the terror attack on French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo that killed 12 people.
In a posting on his Twitter account this afternoon, Najib said Malaysia, a Muslim-majority country, stands in unity with France after yesterday’s attack at the publication’s Paris office that has led to vigils around the world.
“Msia condemns in the strongest terms all acts of violence. We stand in unity with the French people. We must fight extremism with moderation,” Najib tweeted.
Putrajaya said in a statement later that Malaysia “strongly condemns” the shootings.
“Nothing justifies taking innocent lives. Malaysia is united with the families of the victims, the government of France, and the French people,” said Putrajaya.
Even a lawmaker from Islamist party PAS, Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad said the sensitive nature of Charlie Hebdo’s controversial cartoons on Islam cannot be used as a reason to justify yesterday’s multiple killings of the French satirical magazine’s staff members.
He said terrorism is a far greater evil than satirical comments and articles against Islam, adding that although PAS does not agree with the French magazine’s works, the party still believes any act of extremism is no way to protect the religion.
“PAS has always condemned all acts of violence, especially those perpetuated in the name of religion.
“We also condemn the ridiculing of Islam, but that does not justify violence and bloodshed,” he told Malay Mail Online when contacted today.
US news network CNN reported today Paris Prosecutor Francois Molins as saying that the gunmen had said they were avenging Prophet Muhammad and had shouted “Allahu akbar” (God is great).
Charlie Hebdo, which satirises Islam and other religions, has printed a stream of controversial cartoons of Prophet Muhammad. Depictions of the prophet are prohibited in Islam.
US paper the Washington Post reported that Charlie Hebdo’s headquarters were firebombed in 2011 after the satirical weekly depicted Prophet Muhammad on its cover saying: “100 lashes if you are not dying of laughter”.
Media reports said an 18-year-old suspect has surrendered to the police, while the two other alleged gunmen are still on the loose.
'He died defending the right to ridicule his faith': France unites behind #JeSuisAhmed on Twitter in tribute to Muslim officer slain by fanatics as he begged for his life

Thousands were today paying tribute to dead Muslim police officer Ahmed Merabet using the rallying cry 'JeSuisAhmed' after the heroic officer was gunned down in Paris.
The celebration of Mr Merabet, who was killed as he begged for his life by suspected Islamic fanatics, echoes the 'JeSuisCharlie' (I am Charlie) demonstrations that have swept the world in the wake of yesterday's shocking massacre.
His colleagues today said they were in extreme shock after a video of the Charlie Hebdo office attack emerged - showing Mr Merabet on the ground and begging for mercy as he is killed casually executed by a gunshot to the head.
