Kesian aku tengok pemahaman penulis ni. Bukan 173 tapi 17 negara sahaja yang dalam senarai. 173 negara tu jumlah semua negara kat seluruh dunia.

Hai, begini teruk sekali tahap pendidikan zaman sekarang

Malaysia back on US human trafficking blacklist

WASHINGTON:The United States yesterday added six African countries to a blacklist of countries trafficking in people, and put Malaysia back on the list.

Chad,Eritrea, Niger, Mauritania, Swaziland, and Zimbabwe were added to the list in the annual report, which analysed efforts in 173 countries to fight trafficking in humans for forced labour, prostitution, military service and other reasons.

Staying on the blacklist list are USallies Saudi Arabia and Kuwait but also Cuba, Fiji, Iran, Myanmar,North Korea, Papua New Guinea, Sudan, and Syria, according to the State Department report for 2009.

All the countries on the list risk sanctions, including the suspension of US non-humanitarian aid.

Human Trafficking is the recruitment and or the transportation of persons by others using violence or the threat of violence, abuse of authority or domination position, deception or other forms of coercion, for the purpose of exploiting them sexually or economically for the profit or advantage of others, such as recruiters, traffickers, intermediaries, employers, customers or crime syndicates.

The victims, (often economically disadvantaged young girls and women) are lured with false promises of good-paying jobs, job training, education and better lives in the civilized western countries, as well as, other developing nations.

The traffickers do procure documents/entry visas for the victims.

Upon arrival at the final destinations, the traffickers confiscate the documents.

Victims are often subjected to physical and psychological torture. In addition, in many instances, there is a threat of physical harm to their relatives in their country of origin. Effectively trapped, they are forced to work under brutal and inhuman conditions.

Most victims who are trafficked are isolated and remain undetected by the public because:

    * The strategies used by the perpetrators isolate and prevent them from coming forward, and
    * The public and the victim service providers have only recently become aware of human trafficking and may not be familiar with how to recognize or respond to trafficking victims.

The practice is common at the moment among some immigrant communities.

Publicly known jobs performed by victims include:

    * Unpaid domestic/household work
    * Forced prostitution
    * Sex tourism and entertainment
    * Pornography
    * Unpaid Sweatshop/factory labor
    * Illegal labor, bonded labor
    * Begging
    * Illegal/false adoption
    * Forced/servile marriage
    * Use in criminal activities

Causes of trafficking

Trafficking in people has been facilitated by porous borders and advanced communication technologies, it has become increasingly transnational in scope and highly lucrative. Unlike drugs or arms, people can be "sold" many times. The opening up of Asian markets, porous borders, the end of the Soviet Union and the collapse of the former Yugoslavia have contributed to this globalization.

Some causes and facilitators of trafficking include:

    * Lack of employment opportunities
    * Organized crime
    * Regional imbalances
    * Economic disparities
    * Social discrimination
    * Corruption in government
    * Political instability
    * Armed conflict
    * Mass resettlement for large projects without proper Resettlement and Rehabilitation packages.
    * Profitability
    * Insufficient penalties against traffickers
    * Minimal law enforcement on global sex tourism industry
    * Legal processes that prosecute victims for prosecution instead of the traffickers[66]
    * Poor international border defence
