Not trying... an act of being lazy, a sign of just being self-centred i.e. selfish? Giving up?

Quoted from one of my favorite movies, 1979's I c e   C a s t l e s (Click on url for movie review - http://lealaurielle.blogdrive.com/archive/1039.html );

NOT TRYING is pointless and cruel...
NOT TRYING is wondering your whole life if you gave up too soon...

Now, what say you about "NOT TRYING..."?

It depends on the subject. Not everything should be tried. Some things are best left untouched.

IMHO.

not trying to understand = insensitive
trying hard to understand = kepo
not trying to respond = coldly unfeeling
trying hard to respond = irritating
not trying to kejar = jual mahal
trying hard to kejar = ...........

a paradox?

mansairaku:
....maybe "not trying" is not so bad, there's something worse in my opinion ..
"to do things halfway"

life's is all about trial and error...if you do not ventured out of ur
comfort zone..do you know if you have really 'lived'

to not try anything is not a sign of lazyness...simply can't be bothered

I think it also comes down their personality type. Those who has 'always trying'/'never give-up' attitude maybe a bit more aggressive and pro-active in nature. Those that has more 'fire' elements in themselves.

Those that is a bit more 'laid-back'/'cool' in nature is probably those that has more 'water' element in their personality.

To look at a different perspective, those that is a bit more 'mellow' are the ones that is more patient and understanding hence, making them a better mediator or a diplomat!
