you need a router. switch is not intelligent enough to route the traffic.

bolehlah tu. if it has dhcp service, turn it on. if not, you have to setup each device manually to access the internet - read the manual for the modem/router.

you can compare hub and switch, but you can't compare hub nor switch with router. router is a completely different device.

dari beli tu, baiK beli wifi router. RM138.
adapter wifi C-Net kalo pci baru RM35 sekeping. kalo 2 keping baru RM70/ total up baru RM205.

homeplug ni bukan wireless. ianya wire based. dia gunakan wayar dlm umah kita utk transmit signal dsl tu. sebab tu kena ada lebih dari 1 plug. rasanya bende ni dah bincang kat bod hardware. tah ada lagi ke tak.

yang HOMEPLUG tu guna 1 PC utk 1 homeplug...

so kalo ader 2 PC... 1 PC guna homeplug.. 1 PC guna modem...n ader xtra 1 homeplug lg..

HOMEPLUG ni bukan wireless... tp dia sent data guna powerline... means guna electricty umah kite.....

ni product TMNET.. so senang la nk configure pasai TMNET dh configure trus...

kalo beli yg kat kdai pon ader gak.. means yg bukan dr TMNET la.. tp cost lebih kurang jer...

homeplug ni, initial config, you need it in pair, one receiver and one transmitter. you connect you pc to the transmitter and the receiver to your modem or router. when it first came out, not very good. now, it can compete with wireless.

if interested, you can read about Linksys PLK200 Powerline AV Ethernet Adapter Kit, just one of many.

actually, homeplug works with more than 2 computers. the idea is the same as wireless. but, nowadays, it's cheaper to get wireless as most laptops have built-in wireless already, and even desktops started to have too.

however, if wireless is not the best solution for your surrounding, too much interferences (no matter what you use - hard to get good consistence signal), then homeplug is a very nice alternative.

Yeah it does work ngan more than 2 PCs... tapi cost-wise this method becomes less feasible with more than 2 PCs (compared to wired/wireless setup)...

Imagine kalau semua 4 PCs and 1laptops aku guna homeplugs... cost = rm300-500.

My current setup is wired/wireless. Total cost = rm300 (Wired/wireless router, 3 cables for downstairs PCs and wireless for upstairs PC and laptop).

it's not about sharing, it's about preference; and what works and what not.

Here's a suggestion which will cost slightly less than rm300.

1. Wired/wireless internet router (rm220).
2. Network cable for PC (rm30).
3. Network interface card for PC (if not already installed) (rm35).

The router will sit between your PC/laptop and the modem. PC connected to router via cable and laptop via wireless. Most regular routers will allow you to add up to 4 cable connections and 100 wireless connections - lots of room for expansion. I'd also suggest you get either a Linksys, DLink or Belkin router - personally I'm a big fan of Linksys - no brainer install/setup.
