KUALA LUMPUR: Two men were killed when the van they were travelling in crashed into the rear of a lorry parked on the emergency lane along SILK Highway today. The 41-year-old lorry driver had earlier stopped his vehicle on the emergency lane as one of the gears was faulty and he was waiting for a mechanic when the incident happened at 1.40pm. Kajang police chief Assistant Commissioner Othman Nanyan said the lorry driver heard a loud bang from the rear and saw shattered glasses on the side of the road. "The lorry driver then saw a Perodua Rusa had rammed the rear of the lorry and immediately called 999 for help. "The 19-year-old van driver and a passenger, who has yet to be identified, died at the scene as they were pinned to the front side of the van," he said. Othman said the van driver was a carpet cleaner providing a mobile cleaning service.
