It’s 2017, Say Goodbye To Obesity And Start Educating Your Kids With Culinary Ar

It was recently revealed by the Nutrition Society of Malaysia (NSM), almost 30 per cent of children and teenagers aged between six and 17 years are either overweight or obese.

Along with the shocking discovery, development was equally blamed for the way our children are growing up without proper nutrition.
“While there has been much progress in Malaysia over the past few decades in terms of improving children’s lives, the road to high-income nationhood brings up new challenges such as obesity in children and young people due to changing lifestyles and dietary habits,” said Ms. Marianne Clark-Hattingh, UNICEF Malaysia Representative.

However, are children to be blamed when they do not know what food goes into their bellies, especially without their parents cautioning their intake, or feeding them with healthy meals?

As more television programmes among the likes of MasterChef Junior and Man vs. Child: Chef Showdown have emerge to pique children’s interest in food, Malaysian Digest sought to find out if creating culinary curiosity would help eliminate obesity and encourage children to make healthier food choices in the long run.

These days, parents are cooking less, and feeding their families more fast food and takeout due to their busy lives, which leads to the rising obesity rates. We asked some mothers about their children’s eating habits.
Sue shared that she tries her best to provide her children with home-cooked meals on a daily basis, though admits that she sometimes resort to fast food due to convenience.

“Kids are curious tots. If I restrict their diet and say some food are unhealthy, without explanation or experiencing it themselves, somewhere down the road they’re bound to put my ‘judgement’ to the test and all that ‘strict food enforcement’ will be pointless,” explained the mother of four.

“I try my best to educate my kids – especially those who are in kindergarten and beyond – on nutritional value and the food pyramid by recruiting their help in the kitchen and when I do grocery shopping,” she said, elaborating that children need to understand why rather than being told ‘no’.

And although the 35-year-old mother agreed that obesity and malnutrition are problems that majority of parents have difficulties to acknowledge, she relayed that healthy-eating is futile if children remain idle.

“It’s not just about eating healthily – it’s the lifestyle. We can’t constantly monitor what our kids eat because they’re not with us 24/7.


“Rather than solely relying on a healthy diet, parents should emphasise on a healthier lifestyle; from eating habits, to exercising to sufficient sleep,” she opined while sharing that she takes her children to the playground every weekend and encourage them to also be active in sport activities in school and kindergarten.

anak aku dah umur 2thn ni susah plak nak makan sayur
bawang sehelai halus dalam sup pun dia boleh rasa
bila aku tanya kenapa tak makan sayur
dia kata, tak suka
nanti dia muntah
uwekkkk!!! siap buat muka cam nak muntah
hai la anak...
pe lagi nak buat ntah

cara aku sendiri biasakan anak dengan sayur dari baby.hingga 9 bulan tak da bagi makanan lain selain sayur.nak makan kerepek2,aku buat kerepek bayam,kerepek carrot.buat tempura sayur dip dgn cheese sauce.antara yang sedap brokoli dgn eggplant.

kalau masak spaghetti tu buat kuah dia berasaskan sayur.memang tak makan yang dalam tin.biasanya sauce dari bayam,broccoli.aku bukan pemakan sayur dari kecil,tapi sejak preggy aku paksa diri makan sayur.kids sebab dah terbiasa kalau tak da lauk nak masak,ada sayur pun dah cukup untuk dia makan.yang penting kena pelbagaikan resepi.nanti aku share lagu kanak-kanak yang buat bila pergi aeon anak aku akan amik trolley lepastu borong segala sayur dan yang dia nak rasa sebab terpengaruh lagu.

lagi satu kita sendiri kena didik anak dari awal dengan buat peringatan untuk dia.contohnya aku tegur anak aku makan hotdog kat kantin.aku search kat youtube tentang keburukkan process food ni tunjuk dia.termasuk junk food dll.sebab dia memang nak umur panjang,aku beritahu dgn tunjuk video apa makanan ni boleh buat pada tubuh kita dan mcmne penyakit boleh jadi.nak didik anak is not simple like paksa 'makan-makan' lepastu dah.

rancangan dr siri ni bagus banyak pengajaran




biasanya anak aku yang 7 tahun suka tengok rancangan mcmni,aku akan duduk sebelah terangkan kat dia,sbb ada penggunaan bahasa yang dia kurang faham.

rancangan mcmni biasanya aku dedahkan kat anak aku..tp memang perlukan aku duduk sebelah terangkan sambil kita buat gaya syok menonton tanya2 dia.dari tengok kartun yg ntah pape tak da pengajaran.lagi satu buku kanak-kanak tentang healthy food melambak boleh beli kat pasaran.

lagi satu aritu ada amik kat fb mana ntah,dia ada buat kajian kandungan gula ngn sodium dalam coke,air yogurt yg konon 0 fat tu,air susu kotak,milo,ribena dll..makanan pun ada.orang malaysia yang buat kot.sangat membantu utk menimbulkan rasa ketakutan dan kesedaran pada kids.sejak tengok video kesihatan anak aku akan tanya  tis one ibu beli ke buat,pergi sekolah mmg bawak bekal.buat masa skrg aku tengah belajar buat kopok lekor..tu satu benda yg dia xboleh tinggal...sekadar perkongsian yg mana baik amik,buruk ketepikan.

anak iol pulak takmo makan
tapi sekarang dah ok sikit diet sheol,dah bole terima pelbagai sayur dalam pinggan sheol,peria pun sheol telan tapi nak kena iol la suapkan

air yogurt vitagen yakult bagai/fruit flavoured drink memang sheol tak minum,buah pun sheol makan apple,pisang,pir aje

sheol sweettooth macam iol,so iol bagi seminggu sekali je makan oreo (peberet)
