We Want More For Ruud

Sir Alex Ferguson last night revealed that Manchester Unitedturned down a ?12million offer from Real Madrid for Ruud van Nistelrooy. United are determined to get at least ?15m for van Nistelrooy and Fergie repeated his insistence that he would not let his out-of-favour striker be sold on the cheap. "We've refused Real Madrid's offer and Ruud remains a Manchester United player - there is no agreement," said Fergie last night. Real are ready to up their offer to around ?14m and United are likely to accept the improved bid within the next 24 hours.

The Mirror also claims United's hopes of signing Spain striker Fernando Torres have been rocked by competition from Inter Milan, who have lodged a ?26million bid for the Atletico Madrid star.

The Express insists United are still chasing Torres, as well as Michael Carrick, Tomasz Kuszczak and a host of Juventus stars.

Financially, they blow almost everyone out of the water and purchase as many up-and-coming young stars as possible; they're almost like a European All-Star team. That's no fun. (Although I will say that I love Rooney's work and wish he was on another team -- he reminds me of a drunken Derrick on "Fresh Meat."). Anyway, can you imagine knowing a foreigner in their mid-30s who was looking for a baseball team and announced, "I'm going with the Yankees!" Wouldn't you hate that person? I don't want to be that guy.
