Jerry Yan Cheng Xu went to Japan to promote his new album in Mid Aug. At the handshake session in Tokyo, a paralytic fan whose lower body was paralysed because of car accident attracted his attention, so he went down the stage to hold her hands tightly. His gesture surprised her so much that she was very touched and she cried with tears all over her face.
Fan Who Had Car Accident
Decided To Live Enthusiastically Because Of Jerry's Songs
This fan has liked Jerry since 2002's Meteor Garden and she has never missed one public event for all these years. Last year, she had a serious car accident and she is still under rehabilitation at this time. Although it is very inconvenient in transportation, she insisted going to the handshake session to see her idol even with wheelchair.
When she looked at Jerry's walking down the stage for holding her hands, she was so happy that she started crying. She told Jerry excitedly, "Because of Jerry, I have to the courage to live." She said that she listened to Jerry's album and watched Jerry's dramas repeatedly everyday when she was in the hospital, and she reminded herself that she needs to continue living, so she can see Jerry again.
Call His Fans Family
Share Happiness and Tragedies In Life
Holding fan's hands, Jerry's eyes turned red. He always intimately calls his fans his family. On the other hand, through the forum of his official website, a lot of fans are used to share their experiences with him, and this brings him a lot of feelings and thoughts. Furthermore, after watching all the tragic stories because of the typhoon in Taiwan, recently, Jerry often told his staff that he really treasures the time his spends with his family, and he cares his mom the most at this time, so he wants to bring his mom to see different scenary and to travel around the world.
duringthe interview, Jerry said it happened like this. prior to his father'sdeath, Jerry remembered that they live quite well, staying in a okapartment. after his father's death, one nite, he, his mum & hissister, they were suddenly evicted from the apartment, he dont know thereason why. all he knew it was nite time & they hv to vacate theplace immediately, that nite itself. at that time, they didnt have muchmoney, so cant hire any lorry to remove their belongings. in the end, they manage to borrow a push cart from this guy who goes round pickingup things from rubbish bins. they put all their household belongingssuch as mattress, blanket, fridge, etc, etc, on the push cart &push it round while looking for a place to stay. Jerry remembered they went round looking for a place to stay for very long during the nite & at last managed to find a very old & run down place to stay temporarily.
Jerryalso talked abt he & his sis working from a young age to helpalleviate his mother's financial burdens, starting off as packing toysin a factory. when older, Jerry has also worked as a salesman sellingpagers, hawking food, bartender & as a labourer in construction sites.
Jerrysaid he remembers his mum crying a lot & they being looked down byrelatives when they went to borrow money & not wanting to hvanything to do with them since his family is so poor. all this makeshim unconsciously hv a strong streak of wanting to win in whatever hedo & for ppl to respect him. even if just playing basketballwith fren, he wants to win, so he plays very hard & seriously untilhis frens told him its just a casual game, not a championship match.Jerry then realised his frens feel pressurised by him. when it comes towork, he wants to achieve the best that he can. if he can achievehigher, he wont settle for less, even if he's called "nangao -difficult".
what he went thru when growing up has makeJerry very appreciative of what he has now & the opportunitiesgiven to him. Jerry said when artistes attend events, they are alwaysdressed nicely. for him, he still stays in a small, small house &drive an old car & he will always remember who he was. he wont, nowthat he has certain things, forget that he was once the Yan Cheng Xuwho had to struggle so much.
(fatty2: if i remember correctly, Jerry said that his deceased father left behind debts, which his motherhas to settle. so his mum was working not only to support 2 kids butalso to repay debts. that's why their financial conditions became sovery bad).
It was reported DWL's filming has delayed for over a month that technically the production team is supposed to pay Jerry the extra talent fee of NT 5 millions. Yesterday, the executive producer indicated that Jerry's very loyal to the team that he wouldn't ask for any extra talent fee.
Because of the delay, Jerry has turned down over 10 endorsement/commercial shows, and a big, joint project with Japanese. Through his agent, Fenny, Jerry indicated that completing a good drama is more important.
Although Jerry's 2010 calendars won't be published until next month, they have been No. 1 on HMV's preorder chart for 4 consecutive weeks, which has a big lead to the Korean version of Meteor Garden at the 5th place.
As he was super busy with his album promotion and filming of DWL earlier, the photos for his 2010 calendars were taken in TW with the help of masters, such as Su Yi Liang, Chen Sun Hua, etc...
While Jerry is invading the Japanese market, he didn't forget about TW. Other than his personal donation of NT 1 million, fans' donation of over NT400,000, Japanese fans' donation of NT900,000 at the meet session venues, a Jerry doll is also for sale on his offical website. Days ago, when the sale started, 1500 dolls were sold immediately in 2 hours. Up to yesterday, over 2000 dolls were sold, and the profit is about NT4.5 millions. In other words, because of YCX, over NT6.2 millions will be donated to the TW typhoon victims in total.
Furthermore, a while ago, Japan was also affected by a typhoon. Therefore, on Jerry's official website in Japan, merchandise, such as ticket holder, are for sale to raise charity money as well.

Jerry Yan ChengXu will be releasing both his 2010 Desk Calendar and 2010 Wall Calendar in Japan next month; pre-orders began in August. It's already been on the HMV "Top Pre-Orders" List for four consecutive weeks; he's far ahead of Korea's Boys Before Flowers, currently at number 5. In fact, Jerry's two calendars are sitting at the number one (champion) and number two (runner-up) spots; it's quite astounding!
Jerry has been busy recently, what with the release of his album, 多出來的自由/Freedom, and his filming schedule for GTV's 就想賴著妳/Just Want To Depend on You. He typically shoots for his calendar in Japan; this year, however, he stayed in Taiwan. He used famed photographer 蘇益良 Su YiLiang and famed stylist 陳孫華 Chen SunHua, both of whom have worked repeatedly with the hottest stars, with heavenly kings and queens. The backdrops for his calendar shoots include such places as Taiwan's 自來水博物館 Museum of Drinking Water and 華山 HuaShan's 藝文中心 Center for the Arts. They match Jerry's "city poet" and "declining aristocrat" image well; in addition to showing off his unique "dispirited, melancholy" charm, the scenery will help his Japanese fans experience some of Taipei's many different feels.
Shows Love To Victims of 88 (August 8th)'s Hurricane Morakot Disaster; Contributes $6.2 Million NTD
Jerry may be invading Japan, but his heart is still bound to Taiwan. In August, he held four fan meetings in Tokyo and Osaka. Although the fan meetings carried on as planned, he worked hard to raise money for the victims overseas. He personally donated $1 million NTD; his fans donated more than $400,000 NTD in his name. He was able to raise an additional $900,000 Japanese yen (approximately $320,000 NTD) at the fan meetings. The other day, he began selling off some "Kimba the White Lion" plushes on-line for charity (for the hurricane victims); he sold 1500 in less than two hours. The number pushed past 2000 yesterday; after subtracting manufacturing costs, that's about $4.5 million NTD! In other words, Jerry has donated and contributed over $6.2 million NTD to the victims of 88 (August 8th)'s Hurricane Morakot!
Additionally, Japan was recently affected by a severe windstorm; Jerry decided to sell some bus-pass holders (and other merchandise) on-line to raise money for the victims. 30% of all proceeds will be donated to the victims of the windstorm; he is showing his love and compassion in both Taiwan and Japan!
