Arsenal Agree Deal For Cheltenham Town Teenager Jamie Edge

Arsenal have today snapped up youthful prospect Jamie Edge from Cheltenham Town. A fee has been agreed between the clubs for the 15-year-old, who can play either in midfield or defence.

Edge has passed a medical with the Gunners and will complete the move this week, according to Town's official website.

Cheltenham Town Head of Youth, Ken Oram, was pleased that the prospect was now getting the opportunity to foster his development at a club like Arsenal.

"We are delighted that Jamie Edge has accepted the offer of joining Arsenal, which is a fantastic opportunity for him to take his development to the next level," he told the Robins' official website.

"He has worked very hard with us and fully deserves the chance of being able to maximise the potential he has shown. Arsenal will make him a better player given the infrastructure and coaching environment they have there.

"Jamie will further his career at a club steeped in a tradition of nurturing young players whilst Cheltenham Town will benefit significantly from the transfer - both from the satisfaction that our development scheme has produced a player capable of reaching that standard and from the level of compensation the club will receive."

Edge joined Cheltenham as a nine-year-old, and has played regularly for the club's Under-18's, and has even featured for the reserve side, despite not yet being 16.

FK Bubamara striker VeljkoBatrović is ‘almost certain’ to join Arsenal’s growing list of Academytalents when he arrives in London next week ahead of a 7 day trial.
The diminutive striker, whobecame the youngest ever captain of Bubamara’s youth side, has beencourted by many of Europe’s biggest club’s including AC Milan and RealMadrid. However, they have never firmed up their interest with offers, although Marseille and Olympiakos are believed to have had bids turneddown.
It seems Arsenal have beenmonitoring the youngster for a while and rate him very highly. So muchso that Arsène Wenger and chief scout Steve Rowley travelled toMontenegro in March to personally scout Batrović, who will touch downin London next week enabling both parties to ‘take a look at eachother’.
Chairman Budom Miranovićconfirmed to the sports website AHA Online that his player is ‘almostcertain’ to be changing employers in the coming weeks. When asked ifthe deal was completed he had this to say:
“Nothing is specified, but it is almost certain that Veljko will soon become a member of Arsenal’s Academy.”
“Nothing is yetfinished, but Veljko will go to a club with the strongest agreement, not only for Bubamara, but for Montenegro football in general. Thedetails we’ll talk about when the time comes.”
Miranović is believed to beholding out for an arrangement similar to that which links Arsenal andUD Salamanca as part of the transfer, with the Gunners getting thefirst choice of any promising prospects coming through their Academy.Whatever happens it seems the striker nicknamed ‘The Wizard’ is onlydays away from becoming our latest Young Gun.

Fabregas - I can't wait to see Rosicky return

Cesc Fabregas cannot wait to see Tomas Rosicky back in action.

The Czech midfielder has been hampered by injuries to his hamstring tendon and his knee since January 2008 but he returned to full training in May and was one of the first players back for pre-season last week.

The sight of Rosicky limbering up with his team-mates was a heart-warming one and he is now in contention for Arsenal's summer games, which begin with the traditional trip to Barnet on Saturday.

Fabregas and Rosicky are close friends as well as team-mates so the Spaniard knows as well as anyone what the 28-year-old has been through. The Arsenal captain has been amazed by Rosicky's mental fortitude.

"I have spent a lot of time with him and I know how he feels," Fabregas told Arsenal.com.

"I know what he wants and I have never seen a guy being so committed, so professional and never giving up. If this happened to me I probably wouldn't want to talk to anyone, I would be always down and angry. But he's unbelievable and when we see that he will be back next season, he will be strong and hopefully he can help us improve a lot.

"He's the type of player you enjoy playing alongside and as a guy he's amazing. He didn't deserve his injury but I am sure he will come back stronger. I wish him all the best because everyone here at Arsenal loves him a lot.

"I feel sorry for him but I don't need to say that to him, he's my best friend in the team and one of my best friends in football and my life."

Rosicky was a regular in the Arsenal side which challenged strongly for the Premier League title in 2008, striking up a fine understanding with Fabregas and fellow midfielders Mathieu Flamini and Alex Hleb. The Czech is one of the most experienced players in Arsène Wenger's squad and Fabregas believes he still has much to offer.

"He can bring many, many things to the team," said the captain. "He's a guy with a lot of experience, he has won things, he knows how to compete, he's very humble and he works for the team.

"Technically he is one of the best in the world and physically I am sure he will be really strong because he's been working really hard. I am happy because soon he is going to be back and I can't wait to see him playing again."

lamanyeee tk tgk Rosicky main :pompom::pompom:

WENGER IN NO RUSH TO REPLACE ADEBAYOR

Arsene Wenger has no plans to replace Emmanuel Adebayor after agreeing to sell the Arsenal striker to Manchester City.

Adebayor has spent the day at Eastlands discussing personal terms and the transfer, reported to be worth £25million, is in on the brink of completion.

Wenger claims the money raised by Adebayor's sale is his to invest but while he is keeping an eye on Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh, he is no hurry to spend.

Instead, he will rely on his current attacking options which have been boosted but the return of Tomas Rosicky and Eduardo from injury.

"We're not on the verge of signing anybody but I'm able to spend the money if we find the right players," he said,

"We're not in a hurry because we have a big squad. We'll see in pre-season if we need to make any additions.

"If we need to add something we will. Chamakh is one of the players we've followed and if we need to go for a striker he's a possibility. We're keeping an eye on him.

"We have Rosicky and Eduardo back so we've lost a big striker but have gained two offensive players who were absent last season.

"We also have Nicklas Bendtner, Andrey Arshavin, Robin van Persie and Theo Walcott who can play striker. We have top players we can use as strikers."

Adebayor's departure will not be mourned by Arsenal fans who tired of his attempt to engineer a move abroad last summer before signing a new contract.

Supporters questioned his commitment throughout last season and his sale represents good business with Arsenal set to make an £18million profit on a player they signed from Monaco for £7million in 2006.

Wenger understands Adebayor's desire to leave the Emirates and admitted he was joining a growing force in the Barclays Premier League.

"We'll miss him - he's a great player. I'm sure he'll give something special to Man City," he said.

"I don't believe that last season he got enough support and I think that played a part in his mind.

"There was a bit of resentment you could feel through last summer. I believe he wanted to do well but didn't have the confidence of the year before.

"If you consider the money we paid for him it was good business, but that was not our main target.

"It's a good opportunity for him because City could be a big force in the coming years.

"Carlos Tevez, Robinho and Gareth Barry have done it. Man City will be a threat to the top teams."

Arsenal were held to a 2-2 draw by Barnet in Saturday's traditional pre-season curtain-raiser with Rosicky making his first appearance since January 2008.
