BEAUTIFUL MY LADY - SBS 1997
Lee Byung Hun is a boxer in this show. One day, in a cafe, he met Shim Eun Ah and fell in love with her. EA is a widow with two kids, her husband died in an accident and unable to bear the loss, she left for the US leaving her 2 kids with her father. Her father is a doctor who owns a clinic and there's a
doctor working for him who also has feelings for EA. When she returns to Korea after her studies, he had plans to marry her. BH met EA again in a car park after a boxing match, hurt from the match he was bleeding profusely and EA had mistakenly thought she had knocked him down with her car. She sent him to her father's clinic and was relieved to know that BH was not seriously hurt.
When he was little, BH was left outside an orphanage with only a picture of a lady and a baby. He thinks that the woman is his mother and thus his wish to be a professional boxer so his matches would be telecast on TV and his mum would recognise him . One night, he passed by a shop and saw the woman in the picture, but was not sure and did not dare approach her. Knowing that EA is acquainted with the woman, he asked her to deliver the gifts that he had bought for his mother over the years, to the lady claiming it's from EA.
EA soon developed feelings for BH and decides to call off her engagement to her doctor-friend and marry BH. Facing much objection from her father, they persisted and finally got married. Subsequently BH was diagnosed with a serious injury due to his boxing career and was advised to call it quits before he endanger his life. Upon the pleading of his wife, he finally did but life was tough as he had difficulty finding a job.
SPOILER: Unfortunately due tosome underworld entanglements, BH had to return to the boxing arena for a final match that finally took his life. |

Beautiful My Lady
I've seen the boxset here in Ipoh at a couple of places, namely Speedy & Music Valley. It's in Korean audio with Malay/Chinese subs. But it's still very pricey for a 16-disc drama produced in 1997, imo. Cost about RM70. I think you can get a better bargain in KL. Just don't be fooled by the image on the cover, it uses one of the recent images of LBH. Those unaware of the drama would think it's the latest series when it's not. Happy hunting for the set!

About BD, I think Min Chul is being disrespectful to his dad by not inviting him to his wedding. No matter how his dad treated him and his sister in the past, he will always be their dad. Don't you agree? |

Hmm, I think they (Min Chul & Min Ji and friends) did invite him but the father was reluctant because he was the one so against MC & YS's relationship in the first place. The wedding was actually planned by MC's friends like Narae, Sae-na & others, not by the couple themselves.
MC was not being disrespect, just that his father no longer has any say in the family's affair after the scandal and they knew it. I think he (the older man) was more embarrassed than anything else. MC & MJ were kinda hoping that he'd show up at the wedding and he did, only to turn away when he saw Sun-jae was there as well.
But MC & YS did show their respect to him when they return from the honeymoon. |

5/20/04 - Lee Byung Hun gave Song Hye Gyo a "Teddy Bear" gift on Children's Day. During the interview, LBH stated, "On Children's Day, I was thinking about buying a big Teddy Bear for Hye Gyo as a gift; however, she didn't like the big one, so I buy a small Teddy Bear for her". He also said that both of them had been busy in their projects so that they hadn’t seen each other frequently. LBH's new movie "Everyone has a secret" has completed 80% and is scheduled to be debuted on 6/10.
