Sanjeevan arrested over extortion of gaming centre

   
PETALING JAYA: Malaysian Crime Watch Task Force (MyWatch) chairman Datuk R. Sri Sanjeevan has been arrested for allegedly committing extortion.  

Bukit Aman Secret Societies, Gambling, and Vice Division (D7) principal assistant director Senior Asst Comm Datuk Roslee Chik said Sanjeevan was arrested by Kajang police on Thursday.  

He said Sanjeevan would be charged in Temerloh tomorrow (Friday) for allegedly extorting an operator of a gaming centre.  

He added that 20 investigation papers have been opened against Sanjeevan.

Sanjeevan tweeted on Thursday that he was arrested for a report lodged in Pahang in 2013.

Last month, Sanjeevan and his driver, an Indian national, were detained under Section 506 and Sections 384 and 385 of the Penal Code for alleged criminal intimidation and extortion near the Nilai toll plaza on June 22.

He was arrested following a police report lodged by a complainant that the suspect threatened to slander him via Facebook.

He has pleaded not guilty to two charges of hiring an illegal worker and committing extortion.
