2008's Top Domestic Movies At Japanese Box Office (Final)
The Motion Picture Producers Association of Japan has posted a list of domestic movies that earned an estimated 1 billion yen (about US$11.1 million) or higher in box office gross receipts. Steven Spielberg's Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull finished with 5.71 billion yen (US$61.5 million) as the top imported film.

Actor Tsuyoshi Abe (27) surprisingly announced on Monday that he is now married. His wife is Chinese actress Shi Ke (29), whom he met during filming of the 2006 movie "Stand In Love." The pair registered their marriage on Sunday at a Tokyo office.
Abe, who is a quarter-Japanese, was originally born in China but moved to Japan at the age of 9. He is still active as a celebrity in China, where he is known by the name Li Zhendong. In Japan, Abe is perhaps best known for playing one member of the group F4 in the hit television drama "Hana Yori Dango."
Shi Ke will reportedly take a break from acting around the summer to come to Japan.

Despite the recent spate of sad news from K-drama stars' breakups, there is one sliver of hope from Japan. Mao Inoue and Jun Matsumoto, the stars of the Hana Yori Dango series (Japan's Boys Over Flower), have been dating for 9 years, and may even get married this year. That is, unless their agency gets in the middle and makes them break up for none other than business reasons.
Fans of the original Han Yori Dango story have seen the first TV series made in Taiwan as Meteor Garden, in Japan as Hana Yori Dango, and in Korea as Boys Over Flowers. But the only lead stars of the show that have become romantically linked in real life are Mao and Jun. They rose to idol fame with Hana Yori Dango, Hana Yori Dango 2, and then the Final as a movie. For years paparazzi have been trying to get photos of them together. Recently, they were caught eating at a restaurant together. Apparently they have been dating for 9 years, but only recently have they NOT denied their relationship. There is news that they are even considering a surprise wedding this summer. However, Mao has a new show coming up in August, and agencies are known to dissuade romantic relationships to preserve the single, and considerably more marketable, status of their hottest stars.
