Shioya, Yasuda co-star in Fuji TV drama special

Shun Shioya and Misako Yasuda will co-star in a drama special titled "Kyou wa Shibuya de 6 Ji." The comedy story won Fuji TV's Young Scenario Awards this year.
Shioya plays a young man who has been a NEET for six years, while Yasuda plays an unsuccessful model. The two become acquainted over the internet and arrange to meet in Shibuya one evening, but they both happen to mistake someone else for each other.
The drama will air on January 5 at 11:30pm.

Kitaoji chosen to star in another jidaigeki

Veteran actor Kinya Kitaoji will star in TV Tokyo's new jidaigeki series "Genjuro Hissatsuken," which airs this winter. Kitaoji is no stranger to period dramas; he has starred in many throughout his career, including at least one every year since 2001.
"Genjuro Hissatsuken" is adapted from the novel "Meifu no Shikaku" by Yuichiro Kurosaki. Kitaoji plays Genjuro, a former official who murders a colleague and is sentenced to death. He escapes punishment by having another criminal take his place, then restarts his life as a swordsman who faces off against evildoers.
The series will air on Fridays at 8:00pm, starting on January 18.

"Nodame" SP gets dated

Fuji TV held a press event on Monday for the upcoming "Nodame Cantabile" drama special. Titled "Nodame Cantabile Shinshun Special in Europe," it will air in two parts on January 4-5 at 9:03pm.
The network also announced that all 11 episodes of the original drama series will be replayed in the Kanto area on January 2-3.

High ratings for "Ten to Sen" drama

TV Asahi's drama adaptation of Seicho Matsumoto's mystery novel "Ten to Sen" (also known as "Points and Lines") aired over the weekend. Starring Beat Takeshi, the two-part drama achieved high viewership ratings in the Kanto area: 23.8% on Saturday and 23.7% on Sunday.
Takeshi has starred in two other drama specials based on Matsumoto's work: "Harikomi" and "Kichiku," both in 2002. Those were popular as well, getting ratings of 20.7% and 21.5%, respectively.
