Champions League - Late Lewandowski winner sinks Arsenal
Champions League, Group F, Emirates Stadium - Arsenal 1 (Giroud 41) Borussia Dortmund 2 (Mkhitaryan 16, Lewandowski 82)

Robert Lewandowski scored a late winner as Borussia Dortmund inflicted Arsenal's first defeat in 13 games.
Dortmund opened the scoring through Henrikh Mkhitaryan after Aaron Ramsey's error on the edge of his own box left the Gunners exposed. Marco Reus robbed the careless Welshman and found Lewandowski, who teed up Mkhitaryan to finish coolly from 12 yards.
But Ramsey atoned for his error with a hand in Arsenal's equaliser, which came within five minutes of the break. Ramsey released Bacary Sagna on the right, and the Frenchman's teasing cross wasn't fully dealt with by Neven Subotic and Olivier Giroud pounced to lash in from close range.
Santi Cazorla's second half introduction seemed to turn the tide Arsenal's way as the Spaniard came close to putting the Gunners ahead when his firecracker grazed off the top of the bar.
But Dortmund, disciplined and organised throughout, hit Arsenal with a slick counter-attack, with Lewandowski elevating an indifferent personal display by finishing Kevin Großkreutz's cross with a measured first-time finish into the bottom corner.
The result leaves Arsenal, Dortmund and Napoli level on six points, with Arsenal yet to visit both of their Group F rivals.
MAN OF THE MATCH
Mikel Arteta (Arsenal) - Since Flamini's re-arrival Arteta has been marginalised, but the Spaniard was the heartbeat of the Arsenal side.

TALKING POINT
A reality check for Arsenal? The Gunners' recent run has seen them soar to the top of the Premier League and has encouraged talk of a title challenge. But this defeat has seen their lead at the top of Champions League Group F disappear, and Arsene Wenger will be keen to ensure it doesn't erode confidence.

"Arsenal seolah-olah turun dengan semangat tidak mahu menang walhal bermain di Emirates. Gaya permainan yang sangat perlahan temponya di 45 minit awal, hanya Arsene Wenger sahaja yang faham. Mereka bagaikan model-model yang ber'catwalk' di atas padang tanpa pergerakan-pergerakan yang ada 'nyawa'. Membiarkan BVB mencorak rentak, pemain-pemain Arsenal tidak berupaya mencari arah game mereka".

Premier League - Ten-man Arsenal see off brave Palace
Premier League, Selhurst Park – Crystal Palace 0 Arsenal 2 (Arteta pen 47, Giroud 88); Arteta sent off.

Mikel Arteta scored and was sent off as Premier League leaders Arsenal ground out a 2-0 win at managerless Crystal Palace.
Arteta put the Gunners ahead from the spot early in the second half after Adlene Guedioura’s reckless tackle on substitute Serge Gnabry.
But he was dismissed 20 minutes later after referee Chris Foy deemed his foul on Marouane Chamakh had denied the former Arsenal striker a goal-scoring opportunity. The Gunners will not appeal the suspension, which will rule him out of League Cup action against Chelsea.
Palace threw everything at the Gunners but were denied by a string of fantastic saves from Wojciech Szczesny. And with time running out Arsenal finished the Eagles off as Aaron Ramsey picked out Olivier Giroud, who buried his header to seal the three points.
Arsenal stay top of the Premier League for another weekend, while Palace are second bottom and could drop further if Sunderland beat Newcastle on Sunday.
But the Gunners will be without Arteta for the Carling Cup match against Chelsea, and could miss Mathieu Flamini for several matches after he went off with a groin problem.
MAN OF THE MATCH
Wojciech Szczesny (Arsenal): Made two world-class saves in quick succession to deny Joel Ward and Mile Jedinak, and was a towering presence under late pressure.

TALKING POINT – Was Foy right to send Arteta off? The Spaniard brought down Chamakh on halfway, but he was the last defender and there was a Palace player free in the middle too. In one way it was not a clear goal-scoring opportunity due to the distance Chamakh was from goal, but on the other hand Arsenal would have been unlikely to get men back. Ultimately Arsenal’s only concern is that Arteta will miss the match against Liverpool, although they have options in midfield. |

League Cup - Mata seals Chelsea spot in last eight at Arsenal's expense
Chelsea booked their place in the last eight of the League Cup with a comfortable 2-0 win over Arsenal at the Emirates.

Goals from Cesar Azpilicueta and Juan Mata gave Jose Mourinho’s side a convincing victory at the home of their London rivals as Arsene Wenger’s search for his first win over the Portuguese continues.
After complaining about the scheduling of the tie Mourinho made no less than 10 changes from the side that defeated Manchester City on Sunday, with Gary Cahill the sole survivor. Wenger also made changes from the team he had fielded at the weekend, with Nicklas Bendtner and Ryo Miyaichi coming in for Olivier Giroud and Mesut Ozil.
Chelsea took the lead after 25 minutes when Azpilicueta pounced on a short header by Carl Jenkinson back to his keeper, getting to the ball before Lukasz Fabianski to prod into the gaping net and notch his first goal for the Blues. |

Premier League - Impressive Arsenal sweep Liverpool aside
Premier League, The Emirates - Arsenal 2 (Cazorla 19, Ramsey 59) Liverpool 0

Arsenal went five points clear in the Premier League after a victory over Liverpool came thanks to goals from Santi Cazorla and Aaron Ramsey.
The opener came when Mikel Arteta found Bacary Sagna free on the right wing. His cross was headed by Cazorla against the post, only for him to follow up with a smart volley past Simon Mignolet.
Arsenal grew ever more impressive in the second half, and after two Olivier Giroud misses, Ramsey controlled a Mesut Ozil pass from the right, and lashed into the goal from just outside the box.
Luis Suarez almost pulled a goal back in the 73rd minute, shooting just wide from a corner, and missed a great chance three minutes from the end, but Arsenal deserved their win.
MAN OF THE MATCH
Aaron Ramsey (Arsenal): For a player that was unforgivably booed by his own fans while recovering from a leg break, he has rewarded them with more than they really deserve this season.
