Wenger wants Real to 'leave him alone'
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger wants Real Madrid to forget about signing him after the Spanish club's latest disaster in the Champions League.
According to The Telegraph, Wenger has pledged his future to the Gunners amid reports that Real could be back to ask him to replace Manuel Pellegrini.
Real were knocked out of the competition at the last-16 stage for the sixth time in row despite spending big on the transfer market.
Los Blancos broke the bank by bringing in Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, Karim Benzema and Xabi Alonso to aid in their quest to win this season's Champions League where the final will be held at their home ground - the Bernabeu.
But on Wednesday, their Champions League dream was ended by Lyon who knocked them out 2-1 on aggregate. The exit prompted renewed calls for Real coach Manuel Pellegrini to step down and revived talk of Wenger being the next Real target.
According to the same paper, the Frenchman rejected Real's approach last summer. Wenger repeated his desire to stay at the Emirates to continue his 'Arsenal project'.
"I am always going to the end of my contract and I am going until 2011 - there is no way," he said.
Asked if he had a message for Madrid, he smiled: "Yes, leave me alone."
Although Wenger had some words of sympathy for Real Madrid, he also thinks money is not everything.
"It shows in Europe you have no guarantee," he said. "£240 million doesn't buy you the Champions League necessarily. If you can spend it every year you will get there. But it is the first year with Pérez back and you have to give him time. He only has to invest again next year, so I think they will be a force again.
"At the moment I focus on Hull City. Maybe less glamorous than Real Madrid but they are much more important in my life at the moment."
