Gentile: 'Bale is over-rated'


Juventus legend Claudio Gentile has warned Italian clubs not to be too hasty over signing Tottenham winger Gareth Bale.

The Italian 1982 World Cup winning full back feels the player, who almost singlehandedly tore Inter apart in the Champions League clash between the two clubs, is vastly over-valued.

Both Inter and Juventus have been linked with a summer move for the £50m rated Welsh international, but Gentile feels he is not worth that sum.

“I do not think Bale is a champion,” he said.

“He’s over-rated. His name appeared in the limelight only because he scored three goals in the Champions League match against Inter.

“This is not the kind of player that makes you step up to another level.”
