Amerika Syarikat (AS) yang menuduh China menggunakan aplikasi TikTok untuk mengintip rakyatnya, turut berdepan tuduhan menggunakan aplikasi di pentas Google, Meta dan Apple untuk tujuan sama.


Al Jazeera melaporkan, ketika AS mempertimbangkan pengharaman aplikasi TikTok yang digunakan oleh lebih 150 juta rakyatnya itu, Kongres undang turut mempertimbangkan kuasa memaksa firma seperti Google, Meta dan Apple untuk memudahkan pengintipan tanpa halangan terhadap warga bukan AS di luar negara.

Seksyen 702 Akta Pengawasan Perisikan Asing (FISA) yang bakal diluluskan dan dijangka memberi kebenaran menjelang Disember ini bagi membenarkan agensi perisikan AS menjalankan pengintipan tanpa waran ke atas e-mel, telefon dan talian komunikasi orang asing.


Walaupun rakyat AS mempunyai beberapa perlindungan terhadap carian tanpa waran di bawah Pindaan Keempat Perlembagaan AS, kerajaan AS menegaskan bahawa hak itu tidak diberikan kepada warga asing di luar negara.


Pada hakikatnya, undang-undang itu memberi Agensi Keselamatan Negara (NSA), Biro Penyiasatan Persekutuan (FBI) dan Agensi Perisikan Pusat (CIA) kebebasan untuk mengintip dan menyerahkan maklumat kepada sekutu AS seperti United Kingdom (UK) dan Australia.


Walaupun perkara biasa bagi kerajaan untuk mengintip di luar negara, Washington menikmati kelebihan tidak dikongsi dengan negara lain iaitu bidang kuasa mutlak ke atas syarikat internet moden seperti Google, Meta, Amazon dan Microsoft.


TikTok yang dimiliki oleh syarikat China, ByteDance, menjadi isu apabila ia didakwa berupaya mengintip dan mengakses data pengguna di AS.


Dengan pendedahan terbaru ini, AS dilihat sebagai tidak ikhlas dalam niatnya mahu melindungi rakyat, sebaliknya ia hanya usaha untuk memastikan semua saluran media sosial di negara itu kekal di bawah kawalan kerajaan.


Berdasarkan laporan terkini mengenai menguatkuasakan kembali Seksyen 702, The New York Times melaporkan, kerahsiaan peribadi individu bukan warga AS ada sesuatu yang tidak diberi keutamaan.


Data terkini yang hanya diperoleh setakat 2021, menunjukkan AS menyasarkan 232,432 individu 'bukan warga AS' untuk pemantauan, berdasarkan data kerajaan.
