Tafseer Ibnu Katsir 50:22

(22. (It will be said to the sinners): "Indeed you were heedless of this. Now We have removed from you, your covering,& sharp is your sight this Day!'')

(Indeed you were heedless of this. Now We have removed from you, your covering, and sharp is your sight this Day!) is directed at humanity.

Allah said,

(Indeed you were heedless of this.), of this Day,

(Now We have removed from you, your covering, and sharp is your sight this Day!) `your sight is now clear and strong.' Everyone, including the disbelievers, will have clear sight on the Day of Resurrec- tion. However, having sight will not be helpful to the dis- believers on that Day, for Allah the Exalted said,

(How clearly will they (disbelievers) see and hear, the Day when they will appear before Us!) (19:38), and,

(And if you only could see when the criminals hang their heads before their Lord (saying): "Our Lord! We have now seen and heard, so send us back (to the world), that we will do righteous good deeds. Verily, we now believe with certainty.)(32:12)

And We have certainly created for Hell many of the jinn and mankind. They have hearts with which they do not understand, they have eyes with which they do not see, and they have ears with which they do not hear. Those are like livestock; rather, they are more astray. It is they who are the heedless.

Everyone will know what He has brought on the Day of Judgement Concerning

(14. Every person will know what he has brought.)

Allah's statement,

(Every person will know what he has brought.) This is the conclusive response of the previous statements, meaning at the time these matters occur, every soul will know what it has done, and that will be brought forth for it, as Allah says,

(On the Day when every person will be confronted with all the good he has done, and all the evil he has done, he will wish that there were a great distance between him and his evil.) (3:30) Allah also says,

(On that Day man will be informed of what he sent forward, and what he left behind.) (75:13)

"Every soul shall know what it has put forward."(14)

When all these great events take place  throughout the universe, changing the
status of all life, no one can entertain any  doubt about what they  have done in this
present life, or what they have carried with them to the next life:  “Every soul shall
know what it has put forward.”  (Verse 14) In the midst of all these overwhelming
events, every soul shall know for certain what sort of deeds it has brought and that it
cannot change, omit from or add to what it has done.

People will find themselves completely separated from all that has been familiar to
them, and from their world as a whole. Everything will have undergone a total
change except God. If man turns to God, he will find that His support is forthcoming
when the whole universe is overwhelmed by change. Thus ends the first part of this
sūrah,  leaving us with a vivid impression of  the universal upheaval on the Day of
Resurrection.

Tafseer Ibnu Katsir 63:10-11

(10. And spend of that with which We have provided you before death comes to one of you, and he says: "My Lord! If only You would give me respite for a little while, then I should give Sadaqah from my wealth, and be among the righteous.) (11. And Allah grants respite to none when his appointed time comes. And Allah is All-Aware of what you do.)

(And spend of that with which We have provided you before death comes to one of you, and he says: "My Lord! If only You would give me respite for a little while, then I should give Sadaqah from my wealth, and be among the righteous.) Surely, every person who fell into shortcomings will regret it by the time of his death and will ask for respite, even a short period, so that he does better and attains what he missed. No, rather what occurred, has occurred and what is coming, shall indeed come. Each will be held accountable for his mistakes. As for the disbelievers, they will be as Allah said about them,

(And warn mankind of the Day when the torment will come unto them; then the wrongdoers will say:"Our Lord! Respite us for a little while, we will answer Your call and follow the Messengers!'' (It will be said): "Had you not sworn aforetime that you would not leave.'') (14:44), and,

(Until, when death comes to one of them, he says: "My Lord! send me back. So that I may do good in that which I have left behind!'' No! It is but a word that he speaks; and behind them is Barzakh (a barrier) until the Day when they will be resurrected.) (23:99-100) Then Allah said;

(And Allah grants respite to none when his appointed time comes. And Allah is All-Aware of what you do.) meaning, when the time of death comes, no one will be granted respite. Surely, HSe is the Most Knowledgeable and t an what they did before. Allah said,

(And Allah is All-Aware of what you do.) This is the end of the Tafsir of Surat Al-Munafiqun. All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and all success and immunity from error come from Him.

(23. . . On that Day will man remember, but how will that remembrance avail him)

(On that Day will man remember,) meaning, his deeds, and what he did before in his past and recent times.

(but how will that remembrance avail him) meaning, how can remembrance then benefit him

(He will say: "Alas! Would that I had sent forth for my life!'') meaning, if he was a disobedient person, he will be sorry for the acts of disobedience he committed. If he was an obedient person, he will wish that he performed more acts of obdedience. This is similar to what Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal recorded from Muhammad bin Abi `Amirah, who was one of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah . He said, "If a servant fell down on his face (in prostration) from the day that he was born until the day he died as an old man, in obedience to Allah, he would scorn this act on the Day of Judgement. He would wish to be returned to this life so that he could earn more reward and compensation.''

, then man will remember, but how will that remembrance
avail him? (23)

At that moment  “man will remember.”  Man, who lived unaware of the wisdom
behind the trial with worldly riches or with deprivation; who devoured the
inheritance of orphans greedily; who craved for money and did not care for the
orphans or the needy; who tyrannized, spread corruption and turned away from
divine guidance, will then remember the truth and take account of what he beholds.

But alas! It is too late: “But how will that remembrance avail him?” (Verse 23) The time
for remembrance is over, so remembrance on the Day of Judgement and reward will
not profit anybody. It serves merely as an act of grief for a chance given but not taken
in this present life.

When man is fully aware of the true nature of his situation he says despairingly,
“Oh, would that I had prepared for my life!” (Verse 24) For the true life, the only one that
deserves the name, is indeed the life hereafter. It is the one which is worth preparing
for. “Oh, would that I had...” It is a sigh of evident regret and grief, but it is the most a
man can do for himself then.

The Disputes of the People of Hell

(59. This is a troop entering with you (in Hell), no welcome for them! Verily, they shall enter in the Fire!) (60. (The followers will say to those who misled): "Nay, you (too)! No welcome for you! It is you who brought this upon us, so evil is this place to stay in!'') (61. They will say: "Our Lord! Whoever brought this upon us, add to him a double torment in the Fire!'')

(This is a troop entering with you (in Hell), no welcome for them! Verily, they shall enter in the Fire!) Here Allah tells us what the people of Hell will say to one another. This is like the Ayah:

(Every time a new nation enters, it curses its sister nation (that went before)) (7:38), which means, instead of greeting one another, they will curse one another, accuse one another of being liars and reject one another. When a new group arrives, the keepers of Hell will say,

(This is a troop entering with you (in Hell), no welcome for them! Verily, they shall enter in the Fire!) meaning, because they are of the people of Hell.

(Nay, you (too)! No welcome for you!) means, those who are coming in will say,

(Nay, you (too)! No welcome for you! It is you who brought this upon us,) meaning, `you called us to that which led us to this fate.'

(so evil is this place to stay in!) means, evil is this abode and this destination.

(They will say: "Our Lord! Whoever brought this upon us, add to him a double torment in the Fire!''). This is like the Ayah,

(The last of them will say to the first of them: "Our Lord! These misled us, so give them a double torment of the Fire.'' He will say: "For each one there is double (torment), but you know not.'') (7:38), which means that each of them will be punished as he deserves.
