We explore how car spoilers work, and whether or not they actually do anything for your average road car. The net result: You aren't going to feel the difference. Rear wings are important for racecars as they are larger than those on road cars, the cars themselves are lighter, and they are looking to shave fractions of a second off lap times. However on road cars, not only are they not made large enough, but they have less of a difference at 100mph than having a child in the passenger seat of the car. Basically, they are there because they look cool.
