 KUALA LUMPUR: A man allegedly jumped to his death after he learnt that he was HIV-positive. Several days earlier, Poo Hock Hee, 47, was warded at Kuala Lumpur Hospital for a case of diarrhoea. He was informed by hospital staff at around 8.15am yesterday that a blood test showed that he was infected with HIV. Poo, who showed no sign of being depressed over the news, then asked to go to the rest room to change his clothes. Hospital staff became concerned when he did not re-appear after 20 minutes They then knocked on the rest room door and called out to him. When there was no answer, they broke through the door. They were shocked to see Poo lying motionless on the roof of the first floor below. Apparently, he had climbed out of the window on the fifth floor and jumped. Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Zainuddin Ahmad said the case had been classified as sudden death. In an unrelated incident, fire fighters foiled a 16-year-old’s suicide attempt when they pulled him off the ledge of an apartment block in Kampung Kovil Hilir, Sentul, around 9am yesterday.
