She’s the model who’s turning heads in the fashion world right now.

19-year-old Winnie Harlow, who has the skin pigment condition vitiligo, has gone from America’s Next Top Model wannabe to one of 2015’s hottest faces.
This weekend, she picked up the Beauty Idol gong at German magazine Gala’s Spa Awards 2015 in Baden Baden, looking gorgeous in a sequin and lace red dress.

Asked what the award meant to her, she said: ‘It’s an amazing honour. The fact that people recognize what I’m fighting makes my success even more valuable.’

The accolade follows starring roles in two big spring/summer 2015 ad campaigns – for Diesel and Spanish label Desigual.
And it comes just a month after she took the fashion world by storm when she walked for Desigual at New York Fashion Week.

Rather than being judged for her distinctive looks, Winnie’s now being celebrated for them.
She told AFP in New York: ‘Even the top models right now have a lot of personality and I feel like that’s what people are looking for, you know, something they can relate to, a real person.
‘So I feel like the industry is very much opening up, widening their eyes,’ she said.

It hasn’t always been this way for Winnie, born Chantelle Brown.
She admits she was badly bullied where she went to school in Toronto, Canada, after she was diagnosed with vitiligo at the age of four.
She admits classmates used to call her ‘zebra’ and ‘cow’ because of the white patches on her face and body.
But, in 2011, she posted a YouTube video entitled ‘Vitiligo: A Skin Condition not a Life Changer’, where she spoke publicly – and honestly – for the first time about the condition.

She hasn’t looked back since, describing herself as a ‘vitiligo spokesperson’ on her Instagram page, which has 627,000 followers.
So, what’s next for Winnie after her receiving her Beauty Idol award? ‘An American Vogue cover’, says the ambitious model.
We wouldn’t bet against her.

Dulu trend albino... sekarang musim vitiligo plak.
Mendiang Michael Jackson pernah dituduh bleaching kulit beliyaw sampai putih melepak... selepas meninggal, autopsy mengesahkan memang MJ ada penyakit vitiligo nih.

Yup, kata doktor yg buat autopsy tu ada bahagian badan MJ yg tertentu masih berkulit gelap.

nih gambar rare menunjukkan penyakit vitiligo nya. mungkin dia cuma bleach bahagian yg obvious jah, who knows.
anak MJ yg sulung tu pon dikatakan ada penyakit yg sama.

aku ada mber sorg, husb dia area mulut tu ada jd kulit serupa tu...but dia kata kena getah pokok hapetah tu jd cenggitu..
mber lain pula kata tu mmg sopak ..

aku rasa dia buat begitu sebab tak nak orang buli dia.. si amoi tu pun mulut jahat, sampai kan pada pak itam tu
