Parents are against decision to relocate

PUCHONG: More than 100 parents of SJK (T) Castlefield pupils recently protested against the school board's decision to relocate the school to Jalan Wawasan 4/12 in Taman Wawasan, here.
They said the location was prone to landslides and could pose a danger to students.

The decision was made because of noise pollution from the LRT construction site next to the school.

The school's action committee member S. Manimaran claimed that the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) and school board had failed to discuss the matter with parents.

Background

- A school in Puchong didn't agree of having LRT work conducted just outside of the school citing noise that affect students

- The LRT alignment couldn't be changed anymore

- Many meetings had been conducted since 2011, but still no conclusion due to changing demands

- Prasarana offered to build temporary air-conditioned classroom so that the noise will not affect the students and also to build new school somewhere else

- The school wanted to be relocated to a 2.4 hectare site in Taman Wawasan which is also shared with a Chinese school, but the school wanted the entire site and demand the Chinese school to be relocated somewhere else

- The matter was discussed in state government meeting, while education ministry proposes the school to get 1.2 hectare and given RM 3 million as start-up grant

- The school rejected it, the state government can only give them at most, 1.6 hectare and Prasarana to foot the cost of building new school at RM 20 million

- Prasarana already has the approval from local council to start the LRT work, but the school board barred them entry to the site

- Meanwhile, parents of the school pupils rejected the relocation as they feared the land is prone to landslide

- The parents added that they do not mind LRT works and they objected to the school board decision to relocated

kesulitan hanyalah sementara cuma ... pastu anak anak boleh mai skolah naik MRT ... lagi skolah ada air cond .. niuntuk keselesaan memurid .

dahulu yunibersiti malaya pun fight dengan muntri kurjaraya takkan bina highway dekat dengan UM, sekali highway jugak yang menang, pembangunan musti diteruskan
