Inter president Massimo Moratti was cagey in his response to questions over his future at the club.

Inter have been in talks with Indonesian businessman Erick Thohir about a potential takeover, and Moratti was evasive as he spoke just hours before his side’s 2-0 win over Genoa at the San Siro on Sunday.

“Is this my last game as president?” he said. “It’s not nice to say it’s the last. I don’t like to say that and I don’t think it’s the case.

“Talks are ongoing with the other party to find an agreement but we haven’t reached one yet. If nothing comes of it we’ll remain as we were before.”

Yuto Nagatomo and Rodrigo Palacio scored second-half goals to hand Inter the points and manager Walter Mazzarri was pleased that his side could put their recent poor form at home behind them.

“The lads hadn’t won at home for four months,” he said.

“It was important to get that off our backs and give ourselves a bit of belief.

“It went the way we thought it would. We only gave away a couple of chances and we’re starting to find our balance.

“It’s important to see the solidity of the team, and not conceding a goal is central to this.”

Midfielder Ricardo Alvarez urged his team to continue their progress under Mazzarri.

“That’s two games now in which we’ve managed to play the way we want and the way the coach wants,” he said.

“But we’re just starting out, we must keep on improving.

“We’re a close-knit team that wants to win and the results will come. We’re just thinking about one game at a time.”

INTER MILAN CLOSE TO NEW 200M NIKE DEAL - WITH THOHIR CASH TO COME

Inter Milan have reached agreement with Nike over a new kit deal.

Gazzetta dello Sport says the outline of an eleven-year deal has been settled which will be worth over 200 million to the Nerazzurri.

The new cash injection will be further boosted as Indonesian billionaire Erick Thohir finalises his takeover of Inter.

Thohir and Inter president Massimo Moratti are close to reaching an agreement over the club's debt and the Indonesian is expected in Milan next week to complete his purchase of a majority controlling stake of the club.

Thohir in Milan for Inter-Juve?

Thohir could make his debut at the San Siro in style. Seconodo when reported by Corriere dello Sport, the Indonesian tycoon, now next owner of Inter, could arrive in Italy in conjunction with the super challenge against the Bianconeri. "Until a few days ago, there was a trip booked for tomorrow or Thursday, but it is more likely that the right is, however, the next week," wrote the Roman newspaper. Also according to the Courier, the timing for the transfer of ownership from Moratti Thohir should be about a week or two: "The transfer of the shares will take place as expected after the market close. Everything suggests, in short, that the match with Juventus of 15 (or 14) September will be the first era-Thohir. " If it is so, we hope that the new owner is a winning debut.
