Mauricio Pellegrino has been appointed the new coach of Valencia, the La Liga club have confirmed.

The 40-year-old has put pen to paper on a two-year contract with the Spanish club after Unai Emery’s spell at the helm came to a close on Monday.

A Valencia statement read: “This afternoon, the Board of Directors have ratified the agreement made last Friday which sees Mauricio Pellegrino become the new first-team coach of Valencia for the next two seasons.”

Pellegrino has not previously held a head coach position, but did serve as an assistant to Rafa Benitez at both Liverpool and Inter.

The former Argentina stopper spent six years at Valencia as a player, between 1999 and 2005, where he won two La Liga championships and finished with a Champions League runners-up medal in two successive seasons.

Emery took charge of Valencia in 2008 following his impressive exploits with Almeria, and lead the Mestalla outfit to three successive third-place finishes in La Liga, but struggled to mount a title challenge throughout his tenure.

"I didn't play much and consequently miss out on Euro 2012. It's fair to say this season has been a failure. It's really hurt me, but I've become stronger mentally.

"I'm 25 now and I still have a long career ahead of me. I came from far, but I will have to start all over again."

All agreed: But M'Vila won't sign if Arsenal miss Champions League

Arsenal have struck terms over a deal for Rennes ace Yann M'Vila - but the move depends on the Gunners qualifying for the Champions League.

The London Evening Standard says Arsenal have agreed a £17.7million fee with Rennes for midfielder M’Vila but are yet to confirm personal terms with the club’s Champions League participation in the balance.

It is understood the framework of a four-year deal worth around £60,000 a week has been provisionally agreed but both parties are unlikely to finalise terms before Sunday’s final Premier League fixtures.

The Gunners remain third which brings with it automatic Champions League qualification but could yet finish outside the top four as Tottenham and Newcastle lie within striking distance should they falter at West Brom.

ni rumors gak..nazmi faiz

It's beira mar

Nazmi Faiz all set to join Beira-Mar
Harimau Muda star Nazmi Faiz is close to joining Portuguese top-flight side Beira-Mar, ESPNSTAR.com has been told.
Earlier this year, Nazmi had been linked with a move to Malaysian owned Cardiff City, however, Harimua Muda coach Ong Kim Swee has revealed that the talented 17-year-old now looks set to land a contract with Beira-Mar who are currently 12th in Portugal's Primeira Liga.

Nazmi, who is scheduled to fly to Portugal with his father on Sunday, will attend a trial with the Aveiro-based side, before signing a pre-contract deal.

"After a couple of days of speculation in regards to Nazmi heading to Europe, we have now got an agreement between Nazmi and the Portuguese club Beira Mar. He will go for a trial with them from May 14 until May 21," Ong explained.
"This is an excellent development. Nazmi was approached by a scout who officially invited him down for the selection process.  All this has come about because of Nazmi's own efforts, and Beira-Mar have every confidence in his ability."

Despite facing the prospect of losing one of one of his key players in the middle of an S.League season, Ong is adamant that the bigger picture is far more crucial.

"We have to make the sacrifice," he said.

"The S.League is important, but I will never hesitate if any of my players get a chance to play overseas, especially in Europe. It is, after all, Harimau Muda's intent to develop Malaysia's future footballers."

"This is great news in terms of the development of Malaysian football. We hope that Nazmi will cherish the opportunity to play in Portugal's top-flight next season," Ong concluded.

According to strictly enforced FIFA regulations, Nazmi will only be able to sign a professional contract with his new club after turning 18 on August 16.

Wan Zack Haikal and Wan Zaharulnizam, who are both 21, are also expected to move oversees in the very near future, with the pair edging closer to deals with Japanese third division side FC Ryukyu.

Yaya Toure wants Barca return
May 9, 2012

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has reiterated his desire to finish his career back at former club Barcelona.

Yaya Toure has proved to be a big-game player for City
Toure, 28, spent three years at Barcelona before moving to City for a fee in the region of £24 million in 2010.

The Ivory Coast international has proved a fine addition at Eastlands and his two goals against Newcastle last weekend put the club on the verge of winning their first title since 1968.

However, Toure's long-term ambition remains a return to the Camp Nou. He told Spanish radio station RAC1: "I said two years ago that I would return. It's been the most important team for me and if they call you don't think twice. I love Barcelona.

"In the press conference I did when I left I said I would return, in life you never know what will happen tomorrow, it's been the team of my life and I would like to finish my sporting career here. If I could return, it would be great.''

Toure also believes Barca will be in good hands when Tito Vilanova replaces Pep Guardiola as coach this summer.

He said of Guardiola's decision to step down: "It was a little strange, because Guardiola has been a key person in the success of Barca in all these years. But we are all human and despite having done phenomenal things, he has decided to go.

"I know Tito very well and I think that he will apply the same philosophy as Pep. Tito is also a very good person, with a very similar idea of football. I think Tito is a good coach as well.''
