LISBON, Portugal - Britney Spears will make her second appearance at the Rock in Rio music festival - but this time in the Portuguese capital instead of Brazil.

The 22-year-old pop singer is set to perform June 5 at the 2004 festival, being held at Bela Vista Park in Lisbon. She was among the acts at 2001's Rock in Rio, held in Rio de Janeiro.

Dates for the festival are May 29-30 and June 3-6. Sting, Alejandro Sanz, Metallica and Guns N' Roses also will perform.

Spears will promote her latest album, "In the Zone," with a tour of the United States and Canada beginning March 2 in San Diego, according to her Web site. Other stops include Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami and New York City.

When people were looking for celebrity images on Yahoo! they were most likely looking for Britney Spears.

She got the most hits according to Yahoo! which has come out with its top searches of 2003. J. Lo was fifth and Hilary Duff ranked seventh.

And when people were searching for famous Jennifers -- they had Jennifer Lopez in mind. She was No. 1 on the list of Jennifer searches, followed by Jennifer Aniston and Jennifer Garner.

Rounding out the top five were Jennifer Love Hewitt and Jennifer Connelly. "Harry Potter" was the most searched for movie, followed by the "Matrix" and "Lord of the Rings."

"Star Wars" was fourth and "X-Men" fifth. As for reality TV shows, search honors went to "American Idol." Other shows getting heavy hits included, "Survivor," "Joe Millionaire" and "Paradise Hotel

"The Bachelor" ranked fifth. And taking top over all honors for searches was file-sharing program KaZaa, followed by "Harry Potter," "American Idol" and Britney Spears."

CHAMPAGNE-swilling songbird Britney Spears had to be carried out of a Las Vegas nightclub after drinking too much bubbly on New Year's Eve.
An eyewitness tells PAGE SIX that Spears got so snookered, she had to be helped out of Rain at the Palms Hotel by three bodyguards, and up to her penthouse suite.

"She was hammered," tattles our source - although Spears' flack denies it.

Spears arrived at the Palms around 4 p.m. on Wednesday. At 8, she and an entourage of 10 - including Palm owner George Maloof - hit the steakhouse Nine, where Kobe and Vanessa Bryant and Paris and Nicky Hilton were also dining.

Britney guzzled glass after glass of champagne during her four-hour dinner, says our source, before she and her posse hit the Palm's Ghost Bar just after midnight.

After a few rounds at Ghost, the pack headed to Rain, where Spears finally folded around 3 a.m. "These guys had to carry her out the back exit," says our witness.

But Spear's spokeswoman insisted: "She wasn't drunk." The rep admits Spears had a few drinks "like any other 22-year-old celebrating New Year's with friends and family," but denies she reached the heights - or depths - described by our source.

Her rep contends that Britney was pooped after a 10-hour flight from the Caribbean. She says Spears was escorted back to her room by two guards, but, "She wasn't carried."

Meanwhile, the Miami heat seemed to get to Mark Wahlberg and Lenny Kravitz at the Delano hotel, where Wahlberg confronted the rocker about his ex-girlfriend, Rhea Durham.

"Mark came with Jessica Alba and Lenny was sitting with Michelle Rodriguez and a table of women," our eyewitness said. "Before midnight, Mark walked over to Lenny and they went outside to talk."

Wahlberg was upset because he had heard Kravitz, who is clearly over Nicole Kidman, had been calling and seeing his ex, Durham.

"Things got really heated and tense," says the source. "Mark was angry about Rhea, but Lenny said Mark should shut up because he had come with Jessica."

The two then supposedly shouted, "Screw you!" at each other before going back to their hotels. Wahlberg stayed at the Delano, while Kravitz left for the Shore Club, where, to his distress, Rodriguez ignored him and kissed a blond girl in the pool.

LAS VEGAS - Pop star Britney Spears marched down the aisle in Las Vegas, marrying a childhood friend from Louisiana, according to news reports.

The 22-year-old singer married Jason Allen Alexander of Kentwood, La., early Saturday at the Little White Wedding Chapel on the Strip, according to People.com, the Web site for People magazine.

But an unnamed source close to singer told the Web site that the wedding was a joke that went too far and Spears is planning an annulment.

Calls to Spears' representatives were not immediately returned.

The bride wore jeans and baseball cap, according to People.com, and had a hotel bellman walk her down the aisle.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported on its Web site that Spears and Alexander, 22, were granted a marriage license, citing an affidavit of Application for Marriage License filed Jan. 3.

People.com reported that Spears and Alexander journeyed to the Little White Wedding Chapel after a stop at the Ghostbar, a club in the Palms Casino Hotel. It reported that the chapel staff told the couple that they couldn't get married without a license, so they were reportedly taken by the limo to the Clark County Marriage Bureau office in the downtown Las Vegas courthouse. They applied for and were granted the marriage license, then driven back to the chapel, where they were married.

Spears released her fourth album "In the Zone" in November. It debuted at the top of the album charts. She begins a concert tour March 2 in San Diego.

Spears, 22, wore jeans and a baseball cap as she wed Jason Allen Alexander at a Las Vegas ceremony.

There were no family members present and Spears was walked down the aisle by a hotel barman, according to the online edition of People Magazine.

A source close to the star told the magazine that the wedding was a joke that went too far.

Her marriage lasted exactly 55 hours. Even as the world was waking up to pop icon Britney Spears' shock marriage to childhood friend Jason Allen Alexander, came the annulment.

It seems that Spears married Alexander on a whim. "Plaintiff Spears lacked understanding of her actions to the extent that she was incapable of agreeing to the marriage," the annulment petition said.

Clark County Family Court judge Lisa M Brown took just two hours to act on the 'complaint for annulment'. "There is no marriage now," said Spears' attorney, David Chesnoff of Las Vegas. "Jason agreed to this completely. They've made a wise decision. I know they care about each other. They are friends."

The pop superstar married Alexander, who like Spears hails from Kentwood, Louisiana, on Saturday at a Las Vegas wedding chapel. Many reports claimed that she was drunk when she got married.

But Chesnoff denied such reports and said, "Absolutely not." Alexander said he and Spears hatched the idea to get hitched on Saturday morning. "It was just crazy, man," he told Access Hollywood in an interview. "And we were just looking at each other and said, 'Let's do something wild, crazy. Let's go get married, just for the hell of it.'"

A friend of Spears said the popstar woke up that morning a 'little stunned' that she tied the knot.

Quickie marriage has tongues wagging and wags joking

(CNN) -- On Saturday, the question for Britney Spears was, "Do you take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband?"

Today, the question is likely to be, "What were you thinking?"

The pop star and a childhood friend, Jason Allen Alexander, were married about 5:30 a.m. Saturday morning at a Las Vegas, Nevada, wedding chapel, reportedly after watching a video of "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre."

By midday Monday, a Clark County judge had signed an annulment order, and the marriage was over.

Total time of wedded bliss: 55 hours.

"That was fast," Brian J. Steinberg, a Las Vegas attorney, told The Associated Press. "I'm not even sure they had time to have sex."

The escapade was the butt of jokes before the ink had dried on the annulment order.

"Britney is one of our great comedians. She has been hilarious," said humorist Andy Borowitz on CNN's "American Morning" Monday, adding that "the marriage did last longer than several of Jennifer Lopez's."

"The next morning, her people had to tell the poor guy the marriage is over. Sounds to me like somebody got punk'd," said David Letterman during his Monday monologue on CBS' "Late Show."

'Let's go get married, just for the hell of it'

Alexander, 22, told "Access Hollywood" that the move was impulsive, but nothing more.

"We were just looking at each other [Saturday morning] and said, 'Let's do something wild, crazy. Let's go get married, just for the hell of it.' "

A Spears friend told the AP that the singer was not intoxicated during the ceremony, and that she woke up later Saturday morning a "little stunned" that she had gone through with the wedding.

However, it wasn't as though the two didn't try a little bit. According to reports, the pair went to the Little White Wedding Chapel -- known for uniting Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, as well as other celebrities -- after spending time at a club in the Palms Casino Hotel. When informed by chapel staff that they couldn't get married without a license, they went to get one and then returned to the chapel for the ceremony.

Spears, also 22, and Alexander wouldn't be the first couple to have an instant marriage followed by an instant divorce.

Dennis Hopper and the Mamas and Papas' Michelle Phillips were married for eight days in 1970. Zsa Zsa Gabor was apparently married to Felipe de Alba -- her eighth husband -- for one day in 1982, though since the wedding was performed by a ship's captain at sea, and she was still married to her seventh husband at the time, the validity of the union is in question.

Other short-lived marriages include Janet Jackson and James Debarge (three months), Tom Green and Drew Barrymore (five months) and Jennifer Lopez and Cris Judd (15 months).

She has reclassified herself as worthless

How Spears' misstep will affect her career is anybody's guess.

"She has reclassified herself as worthless. I hope her fans boycott her music and use her CDs for compost," said Pecanwombat on an AOL message board. (AOL is a division of Time Warner, as is CNN.)

"Seems Britney will do anything to keep herself in the limelight -- news item one day, annulment the next. She is so transparent," added BLHARRING.
Spears was defended by one poster from her home state of Louisiana.

"Here in Louisiana, when we work, we are serious and sane. When we are not working however, we do become a little crazy at times liking to joke, laugh, and have a good time. Britney is no different," wrote Jay Herrod, adding the biblical admonition, "Let he who has not sinned cast the first stone."

Though Spears isn't in dire straits -- her latest album, "In the Zone," debuted at No. 1 -- her album sales have declined and recent events, including a calculated kiss of Madonna at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards, have met with derision.

Legally, the marriage may present problems for Spears. Though an annulment essentially declares the marriage nonexistent (unlike a divorce, which acknowledges a union did occur), Nevada law allows for community property between married couples. So any income that Spears made while she and Alexander were married could be contested, Clark County District Court spokesman Michael Sommermeyer told the AP.

A Spears spokesman, attorney David Chesnoff, said Alexander had agreed to the annulment "completely."

"There is no marriage now," he told the AP. "They've made a wise decision. I know they care about each other. They are friends."

NEW YORK (Billboard) -- With her wedding/annulment imbroglio behind her, Britney Spears is getting back into showbiz high gear.

Her new video, "Toxic," will have its debut on Tuesday's "Making the Video" on MTV, and the singer is readying a North American tour.

The video apparently takes a swipe at ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake and his "Cry Me a River" video. According to an article on MTV.com, "Spears plays a femme fatale who'll do just about anything to procure a poisonous potion so she can kill her cheating ex, played by actor Martin Henderson."

Among the video's images: Spears in flight attendant garb picking up a man for a "bathroom interrogation"; Spears in a catsuit; and Spears wearing "nothing but pasted-on diamonds," according to MTV.com.

The video was directed by Joseph Kahn, who has helmed videos by the Backstreet Boys, Eminem, Garbage, Hole, Moby and U2. His feature film debut, "Torque," opens Friday.

The tour has been dubbed the Onyx Hotel Tour, and will feature a stage resembling a magical hotel that grants the wishes and fantasies of those who enter.

The Onyx Hotel is "a vibrant, whimsical place where wondrous dreams are realized, and the darkest of secrets are revealed," according to a statement from Spears' label, Jive Records.

Kelis has been tapped to open shows on the tour's North American leg, which will kick off March 2 in San Diego. The run will wrap April 10 in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Spears' official Web site (http://britneyspears.com/) is hosting auctions for seats in the first five rows at 16 shows on the tour. Proceeds from those seats and portion of regular ticket sales will benefit the Britney Spears Foundation.

Spears' tour comes in support of her latest studio album, "In the Zone." The Jive set debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and has sold 1.6 million copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Spears has had the run of the tabloids as of late, thanks to a January 3 Las Vegas wedding to longtime friend Jason Alexander. The nuptials, annulled two days later, were officially described as a joke taken too far.
