This is the moment British-supplied Storm Shadow missiles struck the Kursk region inside Russia today.

The rockets destroyed a building with an underground 'control room' where Russian and North Korean military officials are believed to be holed up, according to Ukrainian defence experts.

Debris from the site of the explosion suggests the missiles were British Storm Shadows, rather than equivalent French SCALP missiles.

A Western official reportedly confirmed that Ukraine had used the missiles to strike into Russia for the first time today, after the US paved the way for Kyiv to launch long-range ATACMS missiles deep into Russia on Sunday.

Up to 12 missiles were launched into the Kursk region, according to Russian reports.

- On November 19, six US-made ATACAMS missiles and on November 21, during a combined missile attack, UK-made STORM SHADOW and US-made HIMARS systems struck military targets in the Bryansk and Kursk regions of the Russian Federation, the president said.

From that moment on, Putin said, "the regional conflict in Ukraine previously provoked by the West acquired elements of a global character." He added that the Russian air defense system repelled these attacks, and the enemy's goals were not achieved.

The Russian leader recalled that it is impossible to use such weapons without the direct participation of specialists from countries that produce such weapons.
