PETALING JAYA: Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) has disputed the human resources minister’s claim that Malaysians who were unemployed were “too choosy”.



This unemployed group of Malaysians are just unhappy with the wages offered, PSM’s worker’s bureau coordinator Sivaranjani Manickam said.

“It has nothing to do with being picky, but low wages,” she said in a statement.

Sivaranjani said people generally had no issue with taking any jobs, adding that some youths even wake up as early as 3am to go to work in Singapore because of the better pay.

“Youths are prepared to leave their family behind and work in a foreign country as fruit pickers because the pay is higher.”

Yesterday, human resources minister V Sivakumar gave an assurance that there would be no reduction in the workforce if more existing monopolies were dismantled.

Sivakumar said there would be no layoffs as the demand for labour in the country is high.

“The problem I see is that many of the unemployed are too choosy about jobs,” he was quoted as saying, adding that there were a lot of vacancies.

In March last year, Malaysian Employers Federation president Syed Hussain Husman told FMT that employers found it really difficult to get manpower as locals were not interested in the 3D (dirty, dangerous and difficult) sectors, despite the high number of unemployment among youths.

Akak yang kerjanya ambik pekerja baru ni, akak kesian sangat dengan nasib bebudak baru nak up sis. Dan yes, akak sokong jah theols jadi choosers dan memilih kerja, as long as tak sampai tahap menyusahkan mak bapak la dek.

Deorang bajet2 nak gaji macam kat korea minima 5 ribu kot? Yihhhh! Di manjakam sangat gitu lah jadinya, nak keje pun memilih. Mula dari bawah la dik. Ko jual nasi lemak pun kena start dari bawah baru la lama2 maju.

Mmg gaji sikit tp apa leh buat. Aku dulu fresh grad gaji 9 rat je. Tp job tu requirement dia nak diploma je. Jd terpaksa la aku jump utk dpt gaji yg lbh baik. Akhirnya resume is mcm taik sbb bnyk sgt cmpny

Biar lah org nak pilih gaji sikit ke.. banyak ke.. bukan acik porem yg nk campak duit sekelepok depan pintu rumah diaorang!

Kerja gaji sikit2 pun epf ada carum, setahun dpt 5k-10k,  daripada menganggur cekau duit parent duit pasangan mereka juga perlu wang simpanan sendiri utk hari tua
