The Formidables are 114.8 metres long (and not 110 metres long) and >3200 tonnage per ship. |

That could be a possible replacement for the Victory class ships..akan datang next decade.
It seems that RSN, through ST Marine, has indicated interest in a number of stealth frigate designs as potential replacements for the Victory class ships. My guess is that they will be slightly smaller but more advanced and stealthier Type 45/Horizon class derivatives; focused with anti-air/ballistic missile defence.
RSN has also indicated interest in DCN`s Swordfish; a revolutionary stealth heavy frigate(it's bigger than the Formidables) design;
DCN-Swordfish
Trimaran? Length-145m
Weight-5300tons
Speed-30knots
Carry-1 heavy helicopter(it seems that the hangar is deep inside the ship and accessible for helis and UAVs by a lift cum helipad(very futuristic) ), 3 x 1.5ton UAVs and USVs
Wepons > 48 VLS cells in rear for anti-ship, SAM and cruise missiles. Interesting in that it will also have a turret with 3x155mm cannons, like the old ships of WW2.

Memang cemburu melihat hull Formidable yg streamline dan unclutter..6 biji pulak tu. Syabas tu ST Marine kerana forward-looking dalam pembinaan stealthy ships. Mungkin BNS dapat develop capabilities yg sama secara JV untuk further develop Meko 100 supaya sejajar dengan perkmbgan teknologi low observables.. |
