MPs on agriculture study tour to Taiwan?
by Danny on Wed Sep 10, 2008 11:32 pm

All of a sudden some selected MPs were on a week long study tour to Taiwan. Taiwan is a cold country and their technology may not fit to be extended here in malaysia. Indonesia or Thailand or other warm countries may be more appropriate. Their allocation were from their MP's budget. But how come each of them were given a RM50,000 each as reported by the SAPP? From what source were actually this MP's budget come from? What about the RM50,000? Is it from the people's money or their allowances. I am a tax payer and would like to know where they get this money. Do we have the right to ask them of their text report findings and analysis of the said agriculture study tour by publishing it to the media so that the rakyat know exactly what are they doing and to share knowledge with them?.

la.. tak ngaku pulok doh?

are we so cheap, just rm50k?

by Kong See Hoh. The Sun

BARISAN Nasional MPs who are now on an agricultural study tour in Taiwan are not happy with Sabah Progressive Party president Datuk Yong Teck Lee's claim that they were given RM50,000 pocket money each.

They said Yong's allegation, which he made in an interview with a Sabah English daily on Wednesday, was baseless and gave the perception that the BN MPs could be bought for a mere RM50,000.

The former Sabah chief minister claimed that apart from the pocket money, participants were also provided with free tickets and lodging.

Calling on Yong to stop the accusations, they said it has given the electorates the wrong impression that they went to Taiwan for self-interest when the aim of the trip was to learn the advanced agro-technology.

"Does he think we are so cheap, and worth just RM50,000?" some of them were quoted as saying in a report in Nanyang Siang Pau today.

"As the people's representatives, we have our pride and will definitely not pawn the rakyat's interest for personal gains."

Tenggara MP Datuk Halimah Mohamed Sadique denied the claim that the MPs were bought, saying Yong has not only insulted the MPs but also the intelligence of the voters.

"I hope Yong Teck Lee will think twice before he shoots off his mouth," she said.

Gelang Patah MP Tan Ah Eng also said she will not compromise her pride for personal interest.

"I am here to learn agro technology and hope to use it to benefit the people. I hope Yong Teck Lee will not make baseless accusations again."

Simpang Renggam MP Liang Teck Meng said he had no knowledge of any MP being "bought".

Kuala Nerus MP Datuk Mohd Nasir Ibrahim, Langkawi MP Datuk Paduka Abu Bakar Taib and Kuala Krai MP Prof Datuk Dr Che Nusa also denied having received any pocket money.

Parliamentary Backbenchers Club chairman Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, who was among those in the study tour, rubbished the claim that MPs were given pocket money.

He wanted Yong to substantiate his claim and challenged him to name the MP who tipped him off.

He said the study tour is sponsored by some Malaysians who believe in the importance of agriculture to the country.

PKR sends 4 MPs to Taiwan too!

FOUR PKR LEADERS GOING TO TAIWAN

(The Star) KUALA LUMPUR: PKR, following close on the heels of the Barisan Nasional backbenchers, will send four of its leaders to Taiwan Friday.

Information chief Tian Chua (Batu MP), strategic director Saifuddin Nasution (Machang MP), election bureau deputy head Fuziah Salleh (Kuantan MP) and supreme council member Low Chee Cheong will be on the 2pm flight.

“We will be staying at the same hotel as the Barisan backbenchers. So we’d probably be having breakfast and going for karaoke together with them,” quipped Tian.

He said the decision for the team to go to Taiwan was made Thursday morning at PKR’s political bureau meeting chaired by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

He joked that since the Barisan MPs had gone to Taiwan for an agriculture study tour, “we too want to see how agricultural progress can be made.”

“We don’t want to be left behind in agriculture when we take over the government. We too want to learn some of the tricks of the trade,” he said . On Monday, a group of 41 Barisan MPs left for Taiwan on an agriculture study tour, largely seen as an attempt to avert a crossover to the Opposition.

Jadi...

1.  Boleh 'dibeli' dgn 50k kira 'insulting the intelligence of the voters'

2.  'Lawatan sambil belajar' ke Taiwan tak kira 'insulting the intelligence of the voters'

Very intelligent...

"Saya berharap dia berfikir dua kali sebelum membuka mulut," katanya.

Ahli Parlimen Gelang Patah, Tan Ah Eng juga menganggap dakwaan Yong itu tidak berasas.

Timbalan Pengerusi BNBBC, Datuk Bung Mokhtar Radin turut menafikan dakwaan Yong dan mencabar bekas Ketua Menteri Sabah itu membuat laporan kepada pihak berkuasa sekiranya dia seorang 'gentleman'.
