andaikan aku bagi korang sebiji server kat data centre...apa yg bole dibuat untuk bisness...untuk generate income and sebagainya..
sebab aku tgk dari segi technical kita semua warga cari mmg takde tolok bandingannya .. hehe...
apa yg bole dibuat untuk kaya dari sebiji server?? ada idea??

kalo betul la ader server kat data center kan...hosting antara satu yang menten income tetiap tahun...

lepas tu kalo kater nak cepat kena labur lagi duit... buat sms services.. macam ringtone tuh

lepas tu kalo ader kontek ngan gomen ke private sector yang bebesar sewa kan derang untuk private system derang.. issh byk lagi la...

let say admin or acc system nak consolidated their..
surely derang nak private...so ko offer la server ko sebab tak share ngan org lain. tapi ader la security system u need to think of.. sebab mende nih dulu aku pernah buat

Soalan susah ni....     Not in term of implementation, tapi mau ke org M'sia accept?  Contohnya, aku ada involve dgn proposal nak buat online & e-filing of certain government agency ni...  Tak yah cakap agency ni le, tapi the first thing yg org tanya "how safe/secure the transfer & storage of personal & financial data?"

Kau boleh cakap le the normal encryption and server security etc, tapi still soalan yg sama keluar gak...  At last benda tu tak jalan gak, even the application is there to test and the portal was hosted on a very secure data center...

Anyway, aku cadangkan buat je benda2 yg tak involve personal or financial data.  So, testas what about the bandwidth limitation?  Ada limit tak?  Ada satu company ni just acts macam "bridge" macam yg zacko cakap tu & making tons of money...

What they do is just having reliable leased-line in few countries & they approached big MNC yg ada branch all over the world.  Since most of this company will need to be having realtime data & docs, they have to set up smtg to connect the HQ with their branches.  Leased-line mahal, so that's where this company comes in.  They will set it up & linked up the branch in M'sia with other branches & HQ thru VPN or whatever needed.  The MNC HQ will send them retainer fee every month to maintain this & to make sure that the connection tak down.

Banyak boleh buat tu....  Cuma rasanya some services dah dekat2 nak jadik illegal.  Cam baru2 ni M'sia's IP esp dari TM dah kena banned dgn spam-buster provider.  Penat aku nak hantar email dari private email server ke mail server kat US, asyik kena reject je pasal dah M'sia dah jadik macam spam capital of the world lak...  Kena la hantar email guna gmail or yahoo je...

Anyway, email problem kau kat google tu camne? dah putus akal?

yep....  Masa gua involve dalam project tu, gua ada buat feasibility study on Malaysians perception on online services; & guess what..??  The consensus is that most will be drawn towards "I'd rather not try it, even if I don't really know about internet security".  Funny, Malaysians don't even wanna get involved in it; in their mind they'll be the guinea pig....     At most, they'll say "Even Pentagon pun boleh kena hack...."

hmmm... satu server aje ye? server jenis apa? os apa? oobi assume windows ajerlah, since you're more into windows.

kalau ada satu server ajer, agak susah nak buat business yang agak heavy sikit, even cari forum ni agak heavy juga, unless you limit the number of users and bandwidth. kalau tak, at one point, server susah nak maintain its stability, even if you had a powerful server (unless it's for short term).

first, you kena tengok consumer base kat Malaya. pada oobi, online business susah sikit nak berjaya kat Malaya (ni just pandangan oobi dari jauh, correct me if i'm wrong).

so, online auction macam ebay, memang takkan berjaya (ebay sendiri pun masih terkial-terkial nak tarik orang Malaysia). so, you kena buka your server to international community. for this, kena make sure you have enough bandwidth and 99.9% stable.

anyway, antara idea yang bagus, you boleh buat online educational center - untuk cert courses, etc. yes, banyak yang free out there but if yours is really good, price/product ratio, people will come. in the meantime, use google adsense for extra income.

if you're really into gaming, especially online gaming (xbox, ps3, etc.), may be you can offer tips to users on how to be successful. once you have enough die hard base subscribers, you can start introduce monthly/yearly membership - make sure it's affordable enough to majority of them. and may be you can make a deal with sony or microsoft into selling you their games at wholesale price and you sell it back to your subcribers for the same price (without taking any profits or small profit - incentive for becoming a member of your site). years ago, there's one guy who's doing this for fun (because he's really into it) and his website was bought for over around US$5 mil. oobi tak berapa ingat sangat cerita ni.

kalau you ada vmware license (or microsoft virtual server), you boleh host few virtual servers and boleh offer your virtual servers to small businesses to host their websites - staging and/or production.

or, you can lease your server to businesses seeking backup or test server.

itu aje yang oobi boleh fikir sekarang ni. my body still very very tired after being away for a while.

Ni aku pun agree... tapi ni bukan terhad pada ringtones saja... sebagai contoh ko leh guna server tu utk collect and store sms contest data. Just make sure server ko idup and connected jer. Sekali sekala jer kerja ko utk collect data and bagi kat contest holder tu.

Selain dari buat web hosting, ko jugak boleh host intranets.
