ADAPTED from Ian McEwan抯 novel by Christopher Hampton, Atonement is a heart-wrenching story about two people who are in love with each other.
It revolves around 13-year-old Briony Tallis whose judgement causes Robbie Turner, a childhood friend of her sister, Cecilia, to be sent to prison for a crime he didn抰 commit.
Atonement is perfect for those who think they know what they see, or witness something and report it according to how they believe it to have happened.
It抯 a perfect illustration of how a bad judgement call can ruin a person抯 life forever.
The film itself has an intriguing plot which keeps you hooked throughout. It includes humour at the beginning and fascination by the end.
It抯 also cleverly done with jumps in time and different perspectives of events which will leave you understanding the motives of each character more.
It starts when Briony sees her older sister Cecilia strip off her clothes and plunge into the fountain in the garden of their country house while Robbie looks on.
Briony who witnesses this event from an upstairs bedroom thinks she knows what she is seeing although she is confused as to its meaning.
Robbie, meanwhile, returns to his bungalow to write a letter to Cecilia.
In one version of the letter he includes some lewd suggestions.
He then inadvertently delivers this version of the letter to Cecilia via Briony, who reads it and is convinced, in her fertile imagination, that Robbie is a 搒ex maniac |

I've just finished reading the book.. pada I bahasa dia ada sikit berbunga2 and for me yg suka fast moving story line, cite ni ada slow sikit... but interesting issue nevertheless..
kalau ada peluang nak jugak tengok the movie.. review in paper said the book version is better.. so nak compare on my own.. |

so far pada pendapat saya 2 movies yang setanding buku
or at least even better than a book - THE GODFATHER
by Mario Puzo and JAWS by Peter Benchley --memang saya suka
both books and the movies - buku dia memang best
tapi movie dia even better !! (utk yang dua2 movies ni -
saya baca buku dulu - baru tengok movie dia - tu pun
rent movies tu ...)
LOTR pun not bad at all -- buku dia memang BEST -
lagi detail dari movie - and banyak lagi suspense tu -
yang memang hampeh -- well banyak -
mostly film2 adaptation dari john grisham's books -
yang okay - the Client - tommy lee jones dalam movie
tu memang excellent - |

saya baca buku dia dulu before read his book -
just as THE GREEN MILE -
buku dia best!!
and the movie was quite excellent too -
same director yang directed shawshank redemption
(starring tim robbin and morgan freeman)
the Green Mile:
starring tom hanks and michael clark duncan
a great acting - good adaption! -
