Scary Spice Welcomes A Baby Girl
No Word From Eddie Murphy On The Birth Of Child Who May Be His
(CBS) Former Spice Girl Melanie Brown welcomed a baby girl early Tuesday.
The baby, who has not yet been named, weighed in at 5 lbs. 4oz. when she was born at St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica, Calif. Brown, 31, drove herself to the hospital on Monday afternoon when contractions began at her home.
"Baby is completely healthy with a good head of hair," Brown's rep, Nadine Bibi, said in a statement released Tuesday. "Mother and baby are now resting. No name has been decided on as yet, and is purely known as Baby Brown!"
Brown's mother, Andrea, and her eight-year-old daughter, Phoenix, were both present during the birth. Both mother and baby are expected to leave the hospital in the next few days.
Scandal over Baby Brown erupted late last year when Eddie Murphy doubted that he was the father.
In an interview with a Dutch TV show called "RTL Boulevard" Murphy said, "No, you're being presumptuous. We're not together anymore. We don't know whose child that is until it comes out and has a blood test. You shouldn't jump to conclusions."
Brown fired back and said she was quite certain that he is the baby's daddy. "I am obviously upset and distressed at some of the comments made by Eddie Murphy to the media," Brown said in a statement given to The Associated Press. "I have no idea why anybody would want to conduct themselves in this kind of manner about such a personal matter in such a public way."
"My main concern is for the well being of my (7-year-old) daughter, Phoenix, and of course the baby. I was astonished at what Eddie said |
