Renault Sherpa platform for 155mm Caesar

Renault Trucks Defence has been awarded a contract by Giat Industries to supply 76 6x6 wheeled Sherpa 5 truck chassis to be used as the platforms for the Caesar 155mm/52 calibre self-propelled gun systems on order for the French Army. Caesar is air transportable in a C-130 Hercules aircraft.

In December 2004, Giat Industries was awarded a E300 million (US$360 million) contract for 76 Caesars by the French DGA national armaments directorate, under which Renault Trucks Defence will deliver the first development Sherpa 5 truck chassis later in 2005. Delivery of production Caesars is scheduled for 2007-2011.

France trialled the system in 1998 and this was followed in 2000 by a contract for five pre-production systems which were delivered in 2003. The pre-production systems are all mounted on Mercedes-Benz Unimog 6x6 wheeled truck chassis, but this has now been dropped from the Unimog range.

xpyh la beli caesar tuh....susah2 je...ape kate kite beli G6 trus... :nerd:

contoh untuk variant G6-52 (tahun 2003),peluru V-LAP die boleh tembak sampai 73km...dh lebih kurang peluru SS-80 astross je. mybe kelemahan die sbb berat sangat (49tan,banding ngan K9 korea 47tan) dah la berat, pakai tayar pulak tu....so pepaham je la..

tapi papepon...bentuk G6 mmg mengancam ah...
