Assalammu'alaikum n selamat sejahtera.

Why r u regretting reading Eragon?  Why, I finished all 4!  They were awesome!  I had fun reading them as I found them easier to read compared to LOTR.  The prints r bigger!  Haha.

Wish to read:
1.  The Stalker (Ada kt headboard ni collecting dust)
2.  Star Wars - Aftermath Empire's End (Tgh kumpul dustbunny juga.)
3.  Stephen King - Bazaar of Bad Dreams (Tgh kumpul habuk tp lesser than the 2 above sbb dia duduk kt shelf bwh.)
...and many more.

Regret reading: (good/bad)
1.  1Q84 - Haruki Murakami.  ( I threw it into the rumah sampah during spring cleaning.   I didn't dare derma it to the apartment library.  My son said, "Japanese, what do u expect?"  He's right. )
2.  Some Malay novel... Doktor Cinta or something.  (It just flew into the rubbish bin.  I ernestly threw it away.  Budak2 sekarang kata apa tu... Cringy.nak.mam.  A good friend of mine said, "Buku tu tak sesuai dgn kematangan kau."  Lol.)
3.  Kisah kehidupan Imam Bukhari.  (Regret reading it lambat.  Alhamdulillah terbuka juga hati utk baca.  Masya Allah.  Nangis akak baca.)

Unexpectedly good:
1.  One of Us is Lying by Karen M McManus. (Hey, buku young adults are books too.  Akak baca sbb tgk my eldest, adult son yg tk pernah baca novel telah berjaya habiskan this one in one day.  I kept asking him during my reading break , "Who did it?!  Who's the culprit?"  N dia kata, "Ibu baca je laaaaa" n gave me this smug smirk.)
2.  Hunger Game series.  (Kalahkan anak2... I read all 3 books before the 1st movie came out.)
3.  The Year I Met You by Cecelia Ahern.  (I like all her work... except for Lyrebird.  Maybe sbb this one tk boleh nk relate (yet)?)

Name 3 books you haven't read but have always wanted to.
odd thomas by dean koontz

dead of night by jonathan mabery

forest by jean hegland
unnamed apocalypse, sisters surviving in a cabin in the wilderness.

Name 3 books you've read that you wish you hadn't.
divergent by veronica roth.the entire premise was so so ridiculous i couldn't get past it.

the alchemist by paul coelho
preachy, pseudo intellectual, and not enjoyable.what could have been a captivating book felt like it had all the feeling tired out of it.

50 shades of grey.

Name 3 books you read that were better than you expected.
kafka by murakami
he is one of my favorite writers working today.i find the way he uses mundane moments to ground the magic in his stories to be sublime.the combination of the banal with the sublime makes it relatable and believable.his style always reminds me of smoke.it wafts through space seemingly at random but it actually shows you the path to a breath of fresh air.i read everything he publishes and have no plans of stopping.

horizon is calling by taro yashima is underrated book. it's an autobiographical account of life in japan around and during world war 2, from the perspective of someone who was opposed to the war.it describes the problems the regular people there had to deal with, along with the personal story of yashima as an artist and a new father.especially interesting to me was the bizarre anti white propaganda the imperial government used.

replay by ken grimwood.it's not super unknown, but i rarely meet anyone who has heard of it.it opens with the main character dying in his 50s and waking up back in college.he is able to live his life doing things differently, but it happens again and again.it is a really fun read with some interesting twists.
