Abg Botak: Madrid Will Win The Liga
Fenerbah鏴 left-back Roberto Carlos reflected on his time at Real Madrid to As today, and also offered his thoughts on the rest of the Spanish season...
The veteran Brazilian revealed that his brief re-visit to Madrid was nothing if not eventful.
"This city is my second home," he said. "It's been a fun day, and I had a good laugh with the (Real Madrid) squad.
" People asked me, 'Are you back with Real Madrid?' But everyone's been very friendly. Baptista, Robinho, Marcelo, Torres, Sergio Ramos and Michel (Salgado) were all pleased to see me, and I hailed the new deals of Raul, Guti and Iker [Casillas].
"I told Pepe that he's much more handsome on TV, too. It was a joyful atmosphere and that's shown even though I moved to another team."
Liga Matters
Moving on to footballing concerns, he said, "This team has everything to be 17 points ahead of Barcelona, but instead they're just seven ahead.
"I just hope that from now on, in the Liga, they can get four good results and hence wrap things up.
"Difficulties? It's hard to be in the Champions League and Copa del Rey and then have to adjust to just one competiiton. There is physical and mental fatigue and the team must be given a margin of error.
"One year can't see everything change, and you can't carry the glory over from one to the next. You must be patient as this team will be Liga champions. They'll suffer, but they'll do it."
Opposition
He continued, "Barcelona? They look the same as last year, when we were behind them, but regained the points and overtook them. And Ronaldinho... people don't appreciate all that he's done for Barcelona.
"If it wasn't for him they wouldn't have been European champions, or a big team. If he was in my team he'd always play, and he'd be the best. The problems arise when things go wrong in a big club, and the blame always appears. He'll continue to be the world's number one.
"Will they be European champions? They'll need to beat us (Fenerbah鏴) first! We're going to face a strong Chelsea  , but I feel that we can meet Barcelona in the final. I think this may happen. And in a neural field, we'd be the favourites." |
