Kris Humphries pulled plug on divorce fight because 'he felt sorry' for Kim Kardashian... and wanted to appear in NBA playoffs
On Friday he finally decided to call time on the divorce feud that ran far longer than their 72 day marriage.
And it has been claimed Kris Humphries decided to end his legal battle with Kim Kardashian as he 'felt sorry' for the pregnant reality personality.
However another less charitable reason for the decision is he wanted to avoid going to court so he could appear in the play-offs for his NBA side the Brooklyn Nets.
A friend of the 28-year-old told Wetpaint: 'At the end of the day, Kris is truly a good guy. Yes, he was angry at Kim for the way their marriage ended and he truly DID feel defrauded by her and the show.
'But lately, especially in recent weeks, he just feels sorry for her. She's pregnant and obviously under a lot of stress. He didn't want to be part of it any more.'
And his companion denied he was just trying to secure a hefty divorce pay out.
He said: 'This was never about the money for Kris. He has plenty. It was about clearing his name.
'But I think he finally realized enough damage has been done on both sides and it was time to end the situation once and for all.'
However it was not quite so clean cut according to a Radarinsider, who claimed he decided to throw in the towel as he realised he could not win his case, which was likened to a shark sandwich.
The source said: 'Kris didn’t want the team impacted by his personal life.
'If the Nets advanced in the playoffs, the trial would have taken place during the games and basketball comes first for Kris.
'He also realized that he didn’t have a chance in hell of proving that Kim defrauded him.

'In the end, his lawyers were able to finally make him recognize that not only would he be missing out on the playoffs with the Nets, but would likely be ordered to pay Kim’s legal fees.
'Kris recognized it was a s*** sandwich and chose to settle.'
A judge finally ended their 72 day union on Friday, which came after 536 days of bitter negotiations.
It means the 32-year-old will be able to give birth to her first child with Kanye West in July while a single woman.
As a sad looking Kim dealt with the court date alone, as the 35-year-old rapper nowhere to be seen
