1 Year since Beast's Debut "Being #1 is not what's important"

In the words of Beast now close to one year since their debut. As singers it’s strange to not have the greed to be #1. Although it may sound a bit “presumptuous” to some, as per Yoon Doojoon, Yang Yoseob, Jang Hyunseung, Lee Kikwang, Yong Junhyung and Son Dongwoon, it was said with much earnestness. As per 6 members, “obviously we would love to be….#1. However they stated that “ since its been a year since our debut we realized that its more important to make BEAST's color concrete more than having a greed of being #1.” From its intense sound , dramatic development and with Yang Yoseob’s strong vocals, “Breath” is definitely a song one can sense Beast's strong characteristic.
“It still feels like yesterday we sang “Bad Girl” trembling in front of 70 people. It’s strange to think that it’s already been a year. Heard that for our first “Breath” broadcast, the audience was packed and even had fans waiting outside. Nervous just thinking about putting up the name Beast at Jamsil Stadium for our upcoming concert in December. “
Although it’s been a year since their debut, Beast, however, have not for a moment to rest. They’ve found much success with now 3 albums released and with the 4th album in the works, as well as with Lee Kikwang and Yoon Doojoon in variety shows and sitcoms. Seeing Lee Kikwang and Yoon Doojoon on TV, asked other members if they were jealous?
“At first I did wondered ‘why only two of them were at the meeting’. To say we weren’t jealous would be a lie. However, when thinking in hindsight, I don’t think I would be able to do what they did. When seeing them leave for their schedules, barely getting any rest, feel quite sorry for them. With people still wondering “who Beast members are?, we’re grateful to have people search us up [on the internet], all due to Kikwang and Doojoon.”
“Breath” was released right around the same time Miss A came out with their similar title “Breathe”. There were theories going around that Beast changed their title as “SOOM” (krn title) because of Miss A. However, it was said that “SOOM’ was rightly named by Yong Junhyung. Duly noted to avoid a misunderstanding.
“We were also quite surprised. Knowing ‘Music Bank’ broadcast was coming up, we were worried because we had to give them our title in English. Then our Dongwoonie who’s most fluent in English [amongst us] decided to take the ‘e’ out to make the verb into a noun. Ah also! Our debut title ‘Bad Girl’ is also quite similar to Miss A’s ‘Bad Girl, Good Girl’. Seriously bizarre right?”
Although there isn't much time to rest in their jammed packed schedule, Beast members continue to practice their choreography late into the evening, leaving no room for laziness. Their purpose behind it all was for Beast members to show their best in their performances.
Though it’s been challenging to create a music piece that would embrace all 6 individual member’s varied colorings, one can sense their unity in terms of their passionate dance choreography. It was stated that their most preferred late night snack is chicken. They broke out into laughter realizing they probably consumed over 250 chickens since their debut till now. Evolving from their innocent beginnings into becoming strong men, Beast members ended by stating that they continue on dancing in order to achieve their goal of becoming the “long running artists”.

Korean 6-member male group BEAST will be entering Japan with a special album.
Last fall, 6-member male performance and dance group BEAST made their debut in Korea. Now, they will be coming out with a Japanese edition special album ‘BEAST – Japan Premium Edition’ on November 24th.
The group BEAST consists of AJ, also known as Lee Kikwang, who was a solo artist in Korea, Jang Hyunseung who was eliminated in the final audition of BIGBANG, Yoon Doojoon who was in the rookie-making program “Hot Blood” which formed the two promoting groups 2AM & 2PM, and others who have received attention prior to their debut, as it is a total of 6 members. 4minute, also in the same company, made their debut in Japan this past May as they have set the goal in promoting worldwide, finalizing their contract with Universal. They are beginning their promotions within Asia first.
The ‘BEAST – Japan Premium Edition’ will be compiled of the two mini albums ‘BEAST Is The B2ST’ and ‘Shock Of The New Era’ which were both released in Korea. Songs like their debut song “Bad Girl” and “Shock” which they placed 1st with on the music program “M Countdown” will be in the special edition along with a 30 minute documentary video DVD of their first visit in July. Beast made their comeback.
With their recently released 3rd mini album , members shares their difficulty in their preparation process. They regret for not leaving behind a strong distinct impression in their previous activities. Although they were given the title “animal~idols” from their [activities], Beast still felt 2% short and wanted to fulfill their mission with their “Breath”. This time around they resolved to show nothing less with their title song “Breath”. With their intense electronic beats and intricate repetitious melody, [we] were able to meet up with the ever changing ‘chameleon’ Beast members.
#Done with the preparation process.
Debuted last October, Beast. What has lead to member’s road to notoriety. Much attention was initially drawn to this group due members , Yoon Doojoon and Jang Hyunseung , who were both dropped, respectively, from auditioning for [boy] groups, and Lee Kikwang, who’d previously debuted as a solo artist. All of their songs have successfully done well on charts. And recently, Yoon Doojoon and Lee Kikwang have successfully landed on various entertainment shows. However, as per members, they weren’t satisfied.
“It appears we’re being recognized by a lot of people. Fans have definitely grown. However, we feel that there’s still something amiss. Feel like we’re short of 2%. This time around we’re going to try hard to fill up that 2%” (Yoon Doojoon) “We no longer feel estranged when we attend broadcast shows, think our confidence have grown to the extent of our comfort level on stage.” (Yong Junhyung)
In order to fill up that missing 2%, members practiced hard, leaving no room for laziness. One could guess from their gaunt appearances were due to their strenuous practice schedules.
“I’ve finally realized that being #1 is not everything. If we’re not satisfied, do you think fans will be as well? In order to leave nothing amiss on stage, we practice and practice.” (Yang Yoseob)
#Making a mark
’s stage performance is tightly choreographed. The part where Lee Kikwang dances in middle amongst the members, half way through the song , appears to be their main point in their choreography. Title of their album ‘Mastermind’ was for the purpose to captivate and control one’s heart. Notably, being able to do so on their live performances, basing on their powerful stage performances, song and rap. [ In their performance ] as they move together organically, it supposed to evoke a “wheel-like” in motion.

Members are also preparing for their 4th album to be released in November. They stated they’re going to be decorating this coming year with Beast. Aside from everything else, they appeared to be anxiously waiting for December 12th to come around. All due the fact that their dream of holding an exclusive concert will soon to be realized at Jamsil Stadium. In the prospect of seeing strong live performances by Beast, fans’ expectations are also steadily increasing as well.
“Having a concert of our own has been a wish for all of the members. Nervous just dreaming about what kind stage performances we’ll be doing. Although I’m anticipating for our individual acts, I’m looking forward more so to our collaboration on stage. (Son Dongwoon)
