Paul Walker's remains were finally removed from the L.A. County Coroner's Office yesterday ... and transported to a local mortuary, TMZ has learned.
Sources tell us ... Paul's remains are now in the hands of Paul's family -- which will decide how and when the actor will be laid to rest.
Paul died on November 30 after the Porsche Carrera GT he was riding in crashed into a tree and a pole in Santa Clarita, CA and exploded into flames.
Paul was 40. |

Paul Walker’s Brother: Best Choice To Replace Him In ‘Fast & Furious 7′
A report on Dec. 13 claimed that Cody Walker was in talks to fill in for his fallen brother in the latest ‘Fast & Furious’ sequel. It’s a decision that no one wants to make, but not only is Cody the best choice as a replacement — he’s the only choice.
At first, the news that Paul Walker‘s younger brother, Cody, may be filling in for him in the upcoming Fast & Furious 7 had me thinking of a sequence in Beerfest — the absurd joke where an identical twin brother replaces a dead character halfway through the movie without much fanfare — but upon further review, I’m starting to think that the makers of the movie don’t have a better option.
Should Cody Walker Fill In For His Fallen Brother?
The details of Cody possibly replacing Paul sound incredibly awkward and more than a little dark. “[Producers] soon realized they needed someone who looked like Paul to finish the movie and that’s when they approached his nearly identical brother, Cody,” a source told Mail Online. “They can shoot Cody from behind and at distance. If it’s a shot they need Paul’s face in close up, they can CGI it later on.”
Paul Walker Tribute - His Greatest Movie Star Moments
Those quotes make it sound like the Fast & Furious 7 filmmakers are just going to paste Cody into the original script and hope we don’t notice the difference. Which, judging by fans’ reactions over the past 24 hours, would be absolutely crazy. But I don’t think that’s the plan.
How Cody Walker Could Replace Paul In ‘Fast & Furious 7′
Paul’s death, as tragic as it was, has left director James Wan and the Fast producers a serious problem: They don’t want to write Paul completely out of the movie and pretend like he never existed, but they also can’t give him the respectful departure he deserves because he died while in the middle of shooting key scenes. Cody, who works as a stuntman, could be a compromise.
Here’s how. Brian O’Connor, Paul’s character in the movies, will die in Fast & Furious 7 – and he will die on-screen. That’s where Cody comes in — with efficient camerawork and yes, CGI and “shooting Cody from behind,” the movie will be able to give Paul (and Brian) the epic send-off he deserves, instead of having Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) just mention off-hand that “Brian’s dead” during one of the family barbecues.
And because Cody and Paul look so alike, a touching memorial may even be a possibility.
‘Fast & Furious 7′: The Bottom Line Is Honoring Paul Walker
Obviously this is an extremely touchy subject; in trying to honor Paul’s memory, the filmmakers could inadvertently do the exact opposite. But the same source told Mail Online that “if Cody agrees it’s because he wants to honor his brother’s memory.” We trust that Cody wouldn’t involve himself unless he was positive the movie was going to be as respectful as possible and avoid entering Beerfest territory.
I know I may be in the minority by thinking this, but again, I don’t think the people behind Fast & Furious 7 have too many options. If you can think of a better one, let me know, HollywoodLifers.

Paul Walker's final farewell: Beloved actor's family and closest friends play football at beachside memorial near to Fast & Furious star's Santa Barbara home
-Family and close friends gathered to laugh, eat and play football at a beachside memorial on the Santa Barbara shore on Sunday
-The Fast & Furious star had been laid to rest in an intimate ceremony on Saturday - two weeks to the day he died in a fiery car crash in Southern California
Paul Walker's family and friends gathered to say a final farewell to the tragic actor at an intimate Santa Barbara beach memorial on Sunday - one day after he was laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
The star's 15-year-old daughter Meadow joined his 25-year-old brother Cody, his father and his mother as they laughed and remembered the actor the best way they could - by playing football and enjoying the warm weather.
Also beachside to reminisce about the life of the 40-year-old with his loved ones was Tyrese Gibson, who co-starred with Walker in the Fast & Furious franchise.
The choice of Santa Barbara also seems to have been the appropriate place for the memorial - Walker had long made the beautiful coastal stretch his home.
Indeed, after the fatal crash on November 30, the image of Tyrese Gibson breaking down in tears at the site of the accident has become one of the most iconic images of the actor's sad death.
After his service on Saturday, Tyrese posted a message onto Instagram which paid tribute to his friend.
'Today In a room full of your loved ones I wish today was your wedding instead,' Tyrese heartbreakingly posted along with a black and white photograph of Walker.
He went on...' I guess you can’t get all you ask for in life…. But our hearts are FULL from all the moments we DID have, 13 years of laughter and grace, humility and love….. Never did I take my access for granted….'
And in a tragic interview with US Weekly in mid-November, Walker revealed how happy he was that his 15-year-old daughter was moving from Hawaii to California to live with him.
'I'm glad I had her at 25, because at 40 and 15, we're matching up sweet. It's just working,' Paul told the magazine.
'It's perfect,' he added.
Paul said he was looking forward to spending more quality time with Meadow and improving their communication.
Paul's close friends Ronn Shikari and Vince Krause, who both live in Hawaii, earlier this month said Paul was planning on giving up acting to spend more time with Meadow.
The teenager spent the first 14 years of her life in Hawaii with her mother Rebecca Soteros, before moving in with Paul recently in Santa Barbara.
'He was a family man and I know it hurt him to be spending so much time away from Meadow on location; he loved being with his daughter, she was his world,' Ronn said.
'That's why he wanted to retire from acting and talked to his family about it, as he’d achieved everything he wanted to achieve.'
On Saturday, the Fast & Furious franchise star, whose remains were cremated on Thursday was laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, following a brief non-denominational ceremony attended by family and close friends.
According to the website, the ceremony took place at the Court Of Liberty, one of the cemetery's historical sites.
An American flag was allegedly folded in a triangle and displayed during the ceremony, and then given to the star's family.
More than three dozen people dressed in black and grey arrived at the landmark cemetery, where Walker's framed portrait has been set on an easel.
A pair of guards in white short-sleeve shirts, black berets and white cloves stood watch during the ceremony.
The family reportedly were hoping to keep the event private and is said to have asked those in attendance to arrive and leave together so they can be accompanied by a security escort.
Final picture: Walker is pictured in the car moments before it careered off the road and hit a tree killing him and the driver
