"The Sun and the Moon" breaks its ratings record again
MBC drama "The Sun and the Moon" is headed right for a 40% share of viewers.
According to AGB Nielsen Media Research on February 3rd, the latest episode of "The Sun and the Moon" rated 37.1%.
This is 2.6% higher than the previous episode on February 1st and is currently its best numbers yet.
The drama put up numbers as high as 18% from the first episode, broke through 20% by the second and then 30% by the fifth. If this rate continues then it will be soon enough that the drama breaks through 40%.
The last drama that recorded a national viewing percentage of over 40% was the 2010 KBS 2TV drama "Bread, Love and Dreams". Prior to that was MBC's "Queen Sundeok" in 2009.
SBS drama "Take Care of Us, Captain" rated 7.5% and KBS 2TV's "Wild Romance" rated 4.5%.
On "The Sun and the Moon" Lee Hwon (Kim Soo-hyeon-I) realized that Wol's (Han Ga-in) handwriting was the same as Yeon-woo's.
‘The Moon that Embraces the Sun’ recorded top 1-minute ratings of 41.3%.
According to AGB Nielsen, episode 10 of MBC mini-series ‘The Moon that Embraces the Sun’ which aired on February 2nd, recorded 37.1% ratings nationwide. The top 1-minute rating % during the episode 41.3% breaking through the 40% barrier it had neared with episode 9, which aired on February 1st.
Episode 10 of ‘The Moon that Embraces the Sun’ started off with above 30% ratings. The ratings started to climb up slowly from the mid 30′s then at around 25 minute mark, it broke through the 40% mark.
The scene that recorded the top 1-minute ratings was when Huh Yeom (played by Song Jae Hee) handedYeon Woo‘s (played by Kim Yoo Jung as a child) last letter to Lee Hwon (played by Kim Soo Hyun). The letter from Yeon Woo played a decisive part in the storyline to come and Lee Hwon’s tears of pain at reading the letter had the viewers in tears. Many viewers were impressed with the level of expression of feeling Kim Soo Hyun was able to achieve in the scene.
‘The Moon that Embraces the Sun’ has not dropped in ratings not once since it premiered. It is breaking its own record with each episode. The ratings in the Seoul Metropolitan area for ‘The Moon that Embraces the Sun’ was recorded at 40.5% opening the doors to breaking 40% ratings nationwide.

Wol still has no memory of her past. No matter how Hwon questions her, Wol can only answer that she does not know. Hwon continues to miss Yeon Woo. He takes out her final letter to him and reads again about how she is waiting for her father to bring her medicine which will make the pain go away and she will never see him again. Hwon starts to suspect the circumstances of Yeon Woo’s death and launches an investigation. He discovers that Yeon Woo’s grave has been touched, and her corpse is no longer in the coffin.
Bo Kyung has grown jealous and hateful towards Wol. Under dire circumstances, Wol is pushed out of the Palace and sent to live in the Infirmary (care house for contagious diseases and homeless patients). Yang Myung finds out through his source the infirmary where Wol is residing. Hwon is curious about Wol’s life after she is thrown out of the Palace. He disguises himself and leaves the Palace to check on her. He sees Yang Myung together with Wol, making him so angry that he summons Wol back to the Palace.
Nok Young: You really want to leave the Royal Astrology Office? Wol: The things I can do….there isn’t even a single thing. To that person, who he needs is not me. Bo Kyung: The shaman…..does she really look that much like the dead Heo family daughter? Hwon: Her father will bring her medicine, and then she won’t be able to ever see me again?
