Six people, six different colors. Group who clearly shows their own color and is filled with talent, they are a group if talented beings in which they compose the songs themselves as will change the standards of new idol groups in 2011.
They’ll throw aside the same old things that remind the public of a ‘male idol group.’ With idol groups constantly being produced, ‘Dalmatian’ is special amongst them. They are to release their first mini album in which they can express Dalmatian’s very own color and style. Inati, Day Day, Dari, Jee Su, Daniel, & Young Won – a group of six members in total who have their own talents and color.
Unlike other idol groups, all the members participated in composing for the mini album such as ‘Really Really’, ‘Real Eyes’, and much more. They even produced the theme and concept for the album as they’re changing the standards for many idol groups with this mini album. Right now in the Korean music industry, male idol groups collide in releasing similar style and music, but Dalmatian will break those standards with this first mini album. The combination of synthesizers and electronics brighten the music, but Dalmatian still grafts modern hip hop, which makes it their own style of music. Also, their album jacket photos also show Dalmatian’s own style.
This album is filled with tracks that can all be title tracks. Uncommon for rookie groups, they have taken the route in promoting the tracks “The Man Opposed” and “Lover Cop” at the same time.
Having made their debut for five months, their trainee years on average of six years shaped their talents and even if they did pour out all that talent into this album, it’s not wrong to say that this album is filled with songs that not only match to the public’s interest, but also filled with tracks that make it hard to declare one as a title. Also, they have decided to promote two songs as their title track.
Disc Brothers, Dalmatian’s Day Day, and popular producers Shinsadong Tiger, Choi Kyu Sung, and Rado participated in “The Man Opposed” as “Lover Cop” which was produced by Disc Brothers, Janggeun, and Day Day of Dalmatian as these two were chosen as the title tracks. “The Man Opposed” is about a man convincing a woman to not love him since he’s not a good guy for her, as the song has a cute and cheeky story to it. As for “Lover Cop,” it was influenced by the movie “Robot Cop” they become robots in protecting and loving their woman as it’ll show a masculine image of Dalmatian in starting off with a strong guitar rift.
“Lover Cop” will draw in attention of their performance as reenacting a robot and being on point and uniform in their choreography as for “The Man Opposed,” it’ll be as if watching a scene of a musical as they will draw in attention for their facial expressions as well their unique choreography.
Like their group name Dalmatian, their music style is unique also. Dalmatian is combined in meaning of the two words Dalmatian and Musician. Like the breed Dalmatian in which “they do not have any embarrassment and their specialty in being free,” they said, “We will make fashionable music like the good looking spots of a Dalmatian in putting forth our talents and not betray those who love music.” Having a big meaning behind their group name, they will also show the colorful music from a wonderful combination of black and white.
