COLE PLAYS DOWN GRANT JEERS

Chelsea v Everton First Goalscorer: J Cole 15/2
Chelsea's England midfielder Joe Cole insists the minority of unhappy fans who abused coach Avram Grant over the festive period should concentrate on the team's achievements instead.
Grant was singled out by the Chelsea boo-boys after taking Cole off in the second half of their 2-1 victory over Newcastle.
The Israeli coach was taunted with chants of 'You don't know what you're doing', but Cole shrugged off the criticism by focusing on their results over the holiday programme.
Cole declared: "Fans have always got their opinions. What's important is the result. The main thing is we get the results. We won that game. We keep on winning.
"We took 10 points out of 12 over Christmas in a difficult period, with a lot of injuries.
"If we can continue the way we're going and then get Didier Drogba, John Terry and Frank Lampard back to keep the momentum going, that would be great.
"If you took those four players out of some of the other sides, they would struggle to win as we have.
"Everyone has got a different opinion. All that's important is that we're all pulling in the right direction, pulling together and hoping to achieve things.
"Any club that's winning games is a nice place to be. We're happy, but there are still improvements we have to make.
"We had a turbulent time at the start of the season. Avram came in and steadied the ship. He has changed it slowly.
"We're still in touch with the leaders, in all the competitions, and the lads have taken to him.
"We're improving every day. We're trying to employ the new tactics and style the new manager wants. It's change.
"It's about learning and adapting. We're winning games while we're in transition. A lot of clubs go years without winning trophies while this sort of thing happens, but we're winning games, we're a happy camp and we're pulling together."
Chelsea face Everton at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night in the first leg of their Carling cup semi-final.
Cole missed out on their victory over Arsenal in last year's final at the Millennium Stadium through injury and is desperate to make it this time.
Cole added: "Missing out on any game is hard when you're injured, but to miss a final was particularly hard. I enjoyed going and watching, but it's not the same.
"It would be nice to make up for that by getting to the final this year. Getting this far shows the strength in depth we've got at this club.
"Other clubs play the young players, but we've got players sitting on the bench who are top-class international players. We're strong, and now we're giving a good account of ourselves."
Chelsea hope to have Mikel John Obi available to play against Everton. He is due to go to the African Nations Cup but Nigeria appear to have given him permission to stay behind and play.
But Cole knows that losing Drogba, Salomon Kalou, Mikel and Michael Essien is going to give them a tough time throughout the month.
Cole said: "Any team losing Drogba, Essien, Kalou and Mikel it's going to be tough, but we've got the players here. Claudio Pizarro is top class.
"It's not going to be easy, but it's a great challenge for us. We're up for that challenge. I'm not sure where the club stands for signing players. Obviously, you would welcome any top-class players coming to the club, but we've got a strong squad which has that depth.
"At the moment, no one has won or lost a trophy. Everything is still out there to fight for. No one remembers who is top of the league in January, or third or fourth rounds of cups.
"It's all about results. We've got to keep picking up points in the league and keep winning these cup games.
"Everton are a brilliant side. They held us to a draw at Stamford Bridge and have a great manager in David Moyes.
"It'll be tough, but we've got to go and win the game on Tuesday. It would be great to go to Goodison Park with any lead. If we did that it would put us in a healthy position."
Defender Ricardo Carvalho returns after suspension for the Blues but none of the other injured players are expected to return.
Meanwhile Chelsea tonight confirmed they are in the process of trying to sign Bolton striker Nicolas Anelka.
The striker has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in recent weeks and Bolton had earlier rejected a bid, believed to be |
