Oguri voices lead in "Surf's Up" dub

Actor Shun Oguri has been chosen as the lead voice actor in the Japanese dub of the computer-animated film "Surf's Up." This is his first time as a seiyu for a Hollywood animated feature.
Oguri was reportedly chosen because of his deep interest in surfing.
The rest of the voice cast features Yu Yamada, Mike Maki, and Michiko Shimizu. The film opens in Japan on December 15.

PlotSummary: The story gets its roots from the actual street racing thatoccurs on Tokyo's Shuto Expressway, one stretch of which is known asthe "Wangan", literally meaning "bay side" (although it is generallyused to refer to the freeway), the longest, straightest road in theentire country. Of course, there's also lots of traffic to contendwith, including a fair number of heavy trucks. Because of this, theaction is inherently hazardous, and wrecks are common. Blown enginesare also a frequent hazard, especially with the extreme-high powerengines.
One day, Akio Asakura, a third year high schoolstudent, is driving his Fairlady Z (Z31) and is challenged by TatsuyaShima, a doctor, in his black Porsche 964 Turbo (nicknamed the"BlackBird"). With a friend in the passenger seat and two girls in theback, Akio pitifully tries to win, but is defeated. Determined tobecome faster, he goes to the junkyard to buy parts for his car, whenhe sees a pristine, unscratched midnight blue Fairlady Z (S30) in thejunkyard. Intrigued as to why such a machine is about to be junked, hebuys it. He soon finds that the car is unnaturally fast due to a tunedL28 engine, bored and stroked to 3.1 liters combined with twin turbos,which produces 620bhp. He also finds that all of the car's previousowners had unfortunate accidents in it, starting with the first owner'sdeath. All but one of the Z's subsequent owners have died as a resultof trying to control its power. The manga follows Akio's variousencounters, though the central plot revolves around his constant battlewith the BlackBird for superiority.
