real madrid offers casillas a new deal
The contract of Casillas, who entered in Real in the 1990-1991 season, was to expire on June 30, 2006, and there were already offers from European clubs, like England's Manchester United.
Yet the Spanish football giant has offered their goalkeeper Iker Casillas a new contract that will extend his stay at Santiago Bernabeu until 2011 which is five more years than his current deal lasts for.
The net wage of Casillas, who turns 24 on Friday, will amount to five million euros a season, similar to the salary received by Roberto Carlos (Brazil), but less than that of Ronaldo (Brazil), Raul (Spain), Zidane (France), Figo (Portugal) and Beckham (England).
Casillas who earned 48 caps in national jersey of Spain played 35 league matches in Primera this season and is closing in 200 league games since he started playing for the royal club from Madrid.

Casillas has been the most decisive player of Madrid next to Ronaldo. The points that a forward can give to a team are very easy to quantify. In addition, Casillas is the first in place for number of stops in La Liga. He has made 149, one in every 22 minutes. He is followed by Kameni (133), Riesgo (111), Doblas (111) and Mora (110), whereas Victor Valdes is in position 15 with 76 interventions. These data are fundamental to evaluate the yield of the goalkeeper of Madrid, but also it is a way to quantify the importance of his interventions. If we rely on the encounter where they obtained 3 points, we can, like minimum, evaluate the number of times that he has saved Madrid, and they were the 9 times that the maximum score Madrid obtained.
