Asia抯 hit movie to be shown in the Philippines
It seems that the horror genre of movies is really the trend all over. The blockbuster horror movie entitled "Don抰 Look Back (Jangan Pandang Belakang)" which was recently No. 1 in Brunei, Singapore and Malaysia, will be shown in the Philippines starting on Aug. 29. And its male star, Pierre Andre, will come over to promote the movie.
The 21-year-old actor, who is Malaysia抯 most promising dramatic actor, is also the scriptwriter of "Don抰 Look Back." He based the story on some events from his own actual encounters with ghosts and lost souls. Pierre is considered to be gifted in seeing spirits in real life.
Pierre will be coming over along with the movie抯 producer, David Teo, and director, Ahmad Idham B. Ahmad Nadzri, in time for the premiere of the movie scheduled on Aug. 27 and 28, and for radio and TV interviews and press conference at the Robinsons Movieworld-Galleria on Aug. 28 at 6 p.m.
"Don抰 Look Back" is about a young man named Darma (Pierre Andre) who wants to find out the cause of his fiancee Rose抯 death. Rose is played by Intan Ladyana, who also plays Rose抯 twin Seri who抣l be helping Darma in finding out what really happened to Rose. They suspect something weird as the cause of the girl抯 untimely demise.
"Don抰 Look Back" is one of the 21 films produced by Metrowealth Movies Production, and it took RM1.5 million to finish the movie, shot in Kuala Kangsar and Ipoh (70%) and Kuala Lumpur (30%). Like in most horror films, "spooky" incidents are said to have happened during the filming of "Don抰 Look Back."
Aside from Pierre Andre, Intan Ladyana and Rio Elani, who are all promising talents in the Malaysian film industry, the cast of "Don抰 Look Back" also include established Malaysian actors like Khantijah Tan, Ruminah Sudek, and some others.
Metrowealth started producing films in 2000 and their first offering was a film entitled "Syukur 21" which won the Jury Award抯 Best Visual Effects and the Best Musical Scoring awards in the 14th Malaysian Film Festival. In 2004, MMP again was awarded the Jury Award for Movie of the Year and Box-office of the Year 2003 for "Cinta Kolesterol" which earned RM3.8 million at the 17th Malaysian Film Festival. Among the film company抯 successful productions include the following movies: "Mami Jarum" "Mistik," "Mami Jarum Junior," "Jutawan Fakir," "Kuliah Cinta," "Hingga Hujung Nyawa," "7Perhentian, "Tangkai Jering," "Potret Mistik," "Lady Boss," "Anak Mami Kembali," "Rempit," and "Tentang Bulan."
Released in 2006, "Rempit" made RM4.05 million at the box-office, a record-breaker for MMP.
Watch out for MMP抯 latest horror flick "Don抰 Look Back," in Robinsons Cinemas last week of August.

Will Angel Locsin, our no. 1 Most Beautiful Filipina of 2006, duplicate her victory by being voted the most beautiful for 2007 for the second year in a row? Or will Kristine Hermosa, Marian Rivera or Judy Ann Santos steal the crown from her? Even the Pantene thirtysomethings like Gretchen Barretto, Angel Aquino, Ruffa Gutierrez and Dawn Zulueta have a shot. And our poll is not limited to actresses and models. We are also open for athletes, beauty queens, politicians, businesswomen, singers, newscasters and program hosts as long as they are Filipina (half-bloods are ok) and beautiful, they are qualified.
You, our avid visitors, will decide!
This year, we will have a different mechanics in ranking the Top 100. We will be having 10 heats with 10 Filipinas per group and additional five heats for the wildcard round. We will conduct a one-week poll for each heat.
The Top 2 who received the most number of votes per heat will advance to our Top 30 poll. The bottom 2 will be eliminated. I will get to choose among the 3rd placer to 8th placer of each heat who will compete again in the wildcard round for a second shot to be included in the Top 30. I can choose 1 or I can choose all 8 of them to compete again. It all depends if they qualify best in our criteria. The criteria is 50% beauty and 50% visibility.
I think our first criteria - beauty - is self-explanatory so i don抰 need to discuss it further. The second criteria - visibility - has a wider scope. This is referring more on the 損opularity |
