Arsenal legend Wright: Henry will stay for Emirates era
Arsenal legend Ian Wright is confident the new Emirates stadium will play a part in convincing Thierry Henry to stay with the Gunners.
Wright told PA Sport: "What Arsenal have to pin their hopes on is that Thierry wants to bring in the new era of the club at the new stadium.
"If he is in love with that concept, then he could stay.
"But if he does win the Champions League, and wants, for his own benefit, to go and play in a Barcelona side, who I am sure would welcome him with open arms, who could begrudge him?
"Either way, it will work out for him and it all depends on what Thierry wants to do.
"Personally, I do not feel that he will leave, but I could not blame him if he did."

Cesc: Arsenal would welcome Torres
Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas admits he'd love to see Atletico Madrid striker Fernando Torres join him at the Emirates stadium next season.
Atletico won't stand in Torres' way should he ask for a transfer and Cesc said: "Torres is a great player, with great quality and power and is someone we'd be delighted to have at Arsenal."

Food not to blame for Spurs sickness
Tottenham have been told that a stomach virus caused the sickness in their squad ahead of the West Ham game on Sunday.
Scientific tests have shown that there was nothing wrong with the food eaten by the Spurs players at the Marriott Hotel in Canary Wharf - it was just a stomach bug.
The club had been threatening to sue the East London hotel after several players - including Michael Carrick - were struck down with sickness that left them vomiting until the kick-off of the game at Upton Park.
Spurs lost the game 2-1 and were ousted from fourth spot by Arsenal, leaving the chairman Daniel Levy requesting that their game against the Hammers was replayed.
The Premier League understandably rejected their cheeky request and Levy reacted to the appeal decision with dismay, saying he despaired at the state of the rules which did not take into account such matters as food poisoning.
He said: "We are disappointed, but not surprised. We continue to feel justifiably aggrieved at the course of events and remain convinced that the game should never have been played.
"If the loss of over half a selected squad to an inexplicable illness in highly suspect circumstances does not warrant the postponement of a match, then I can only despair at the state of our governing rules."
But now it seems that those 'highly suspect circumstances' were not so highly suspect after all. |

Another hat-trick for Henry
Thierry Henry tonight became the first player to receive the Football Writers' Association Footballer of the Year Award three times.
The Arsenal captain collected the accolade at a gala dinner held at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London, with England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson among those in attendance. It has been a superb season for the 28-year-old France striker, who broke Arsenal's all-time goalscoring record.
On receiving the award, Henry explained his appreciation of the English approach to football, saying: "I really hope that you can have another 1966 happen to you. I see the passion you have here for your national team and how much you want them to win."
He added: "You are a nation who loves sport and football and I hope you win the World Cup again because you deserve it.
"People like you deserve to win it."
It was the third time Henry picked up the Football Writers' Award, and he continued: "I am very happy to make history here. My dad was pretty harsh when I was young and he told me never to be satisfied with what I had.
"I am still not satisfied.
"It is difficult for me to explain how I feel tonight. It's amazing for me to come here and win this award for a third time." |

17 Arsenal players for World Cup duty
Wednesday, 10 May 2006
Written by Jonathan Chong
An impressive total of 14 Arsenal players have been selected for their countries' provisional World Cup squads.
The most surprising of these call-ups was Theo Walcott for England. Walcott has not yet played a first team match for Arsenal and hasn't played a first team match since his move from Southampton in January.
More Gunners will undoubtedly be selected for the full World Cup squads, most notably Senderos and Ljungberg for Switzerland and Sweden respectively. |

byk bunyik onri nk blah nih..
AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani held talks yesterday with coach Carlo Ancelotti over possible replacements for striker Andrei Shevchenko.
Milan have rejected Sheva? demand for a new contract extension and the Ukraine international is now closer to a move to Chelsea.
Galliani and Ancelotti agreed yesterday that should they sell Shevchenko, who is likely to carry a price-tag of ?35 million, they will use the cash raised to beat Barcelona for Arsenal captain Thierry Henry.
Henry? camp has made it known to Milan intermediaries that he is interested in moving to the San Siro as he has concerns over whether he and Ronaldinho could play in the same team together at Barca. |
