Just to answer the imbecilic query of that depressed penguinal muslim in this thread, here is the ultimate truth;
....the Arabic word for God (literally 'the God', as the initial "Al-" is the definite article).[1][2][3] It is used mainly by Muslims to refer to God in Islam,[4] Arab Christians, and often, albeit not exclusively, by Bahá'ís, Arabic-speakers, Indonesian and Maltese Christians, and Mizrahi Jews.[5][6][7]
The term Allāh is derived from a contraction of the Arabic definite article al- "the" and ilāh "deity, god" to al-lāh meaning "the [sole] deity, God" (ὁ θεὸς μόνος, ho theos monos).[8] Cognates of the name "Allāh" exist in other Semitic languages, including Hebrew and Aramaic.[9] Biblical Hebrew mostly uses the plural form (but functional singular) Elohim. The corresponding Aramaic form is ʼĔlāhā ܐܠܗܐ in Biblical Aramaic and ʼAlâhâ ܐܲܠܵܗܵܐ in Syriac as used by the Assyrian Church, both meaning simply 'God'.[10] In the Sikh scriptures, Guru Granth Sahib, the term Allah (Punjabi: ਅਲਹੁ) is used 37 times.[11]
The name was previously used by pagan Meccans as a reference to a creator deity, possibly the supreme deity in pre-Islamic Arabia.[12][13] The concepts associated with the term Allah (as a deity) differ among religious traditions. In pre-Islamic Arabia amongst pagan Arabs, Allah was not considered the sole divinity, having associates and companions, sons and daughters–a concept that was deleted under the process of Islamization. In Islam, the name Allah is the supreme and all-comprehensive divine name, and all other divine names are believed to refer back to Allah.[14] Allah is unique, the only Deity, creator of the universe and omnipotent.[5][6] Arab Christians today use terms such as Allāh al-Ab (الله الأب, 'God the Father') to distinguish their usage from Muslim usage.[15] There are both similarities and differences between the concept of God as portrayed in the Quran and the Hebrew Bible.[16] It has also been applied to certain living human beings as personifications of the term and concept.
So you see, in history Allah was use both use as common term and proper name.
Arab Christian and even Bahai use the term Allah as simply meaning of God, and not Name of God. Quote Wikipaedia;
The corresponding Aramaic form is ʼĔlāhā ܐܠܗܐ in Biblical Aramaic and ʼAlâhâ ܐܲܠܵܗܵܐ in Syriac as used by the Assyrian Church, both meaning simply 'God'.
Unlike pre Islamic pagan Arab, where Allah was a proper Name for one of their deity; quote Wikipaedia; "The name was previously used by pagan Meccans as a reference to a creator deity, possibly the supreme deity in pre-Islamic Arabia.[12][13] The concepts associated with the term Allah (as a deity) differ among religious traditions. In pre-Islamic Arabia amongst pagan Arabs, Allah was not considered the sole divinity, having associates and companions, sons and daughters–a concept that was deleted under the process of Islamization. Ha ha , lets see you appeal to a bigot and islamophobe who calls himself 'Eric Bell'. A D-grade movie producer with no qualifications in any religious studies nor geopolitical studies. Whereas the authors in 'Loonwatch' (watching loons like you) refer to the works of reknown academics in these fields and stats by the relevant authorities in their arguments.
Any intelligent person will know how to seperate the wheat from the chaff. Looks like you have only chaff in your hands. Poor you .... ha ha ... no wonder you are gnashing your feral fangs and frothing in your mouth

In other words , Allah is not the moon God after all.
Why did you argue that Allah is a moon God knowing fully well that its just a lie as the moon God is called Sin? Rom3;7 comes to mind ... ha ha

Insulting me will not show that you're any smarter than me.
I will improve my English (even though I can speak it very well), so I believe you should LEARN Arabic coz you don't even know a single Arabic letter.
Besides, all your prove are obtained from some third-party websites, none are from your own mind. Not sure if you have one, though. If you do, you would have no problem in explaning to me my simple question.
What was the Christian priests, Jewish Rabbis, Pagan chiefs were doing when Muhammad s.a.w was preaching? Don't tell me your long-long Christian leader was sleeping or was hiding under his bed when Muhammad s.a.w was around..

Oh sorry, your thread pertaining Zakir Naik shows discrepencies between what you believe in the Bible and what Truth.8 believes. I'm still waiting for him to explain to us both, does the Bible permits eating pork, or not?
The reason why I ask? You dedicated few postings in that thread speaking about pork alone. Why? If you don't eat pork, you die meh? :/

Allah just simply means God for Arab Christians, it's obviously not a name for God, got it ?
If i write in my own words, can your Mu-ham-mad infested mind take it ?
Ever wonder why 90% of Christian don't call their God Allah and only Arab Christians and Malay speaking Christians in East Malaysia and Indonesia are using it ??? You better give me a substantial answer, if not as the stipulation goes, i will treat you as just another Islamic trash like i encounter much too often in this forum.
Ah, I didn't know wikipedia is a reliable source. We did papers during our University years and we are CLEARLY PROHIBITED from using Wikipedia as our source coz it's just, well, not reliable, according to our academic level.
I didn't know your level is lower than this. Sorry for that.
And it's funny how a person who doesn't know Arabic is teaching ME about Arabic. I'm still taking Arabic classes; what about you, wkk5159? Have you mastered the Arabic language, that you are debating me about "Allah" AS IF you know Arabic?
My mind is not infested, alhamdulillah, and I'm sure I can take your words. I know how to understand low-level mentality, so no worries, ya?
Wow, throwing questions again, wkk5159? What happen to my question? Don't tell me you're IGNORING my question.. ?
Let me ask it again : If 'ALLAH' is the name of an Arabic moon god, why didn't the Arabs themselves point this to Muhammad s.a.w? Where are the Arab Christian priests during that time? Sleeping meh? Or too busy?
Hope you can shed some light on this.

Hehehe...which madrasah you graduated from ???? Why belittling Wikipedia when it is widely acknowl ...
I didn't belittle wikipedia; they are doing good work in becoming some sort of an internat encyclopedia of some sort. However, in educational level, we are not allowed to quote Wikipedia in our research papers. You didn't know about this? Don't tell me you don't have any qualification whatsoever.
Which madrasah that I went to doesn't matter, because I don't think you know about it. What I am presenting here is that the name "Allah" is in Arabic and it is only suitable for those who knows Arabic to explain to us, and seeing that you're allegation is on the name "Allah" and Quran, it is befits that a Muslim who studied Quran and Arabic explain to us the issue.
However, it appears that you do not want to listen to people's explanation. You only believe what you chose to believe, which is kinda sad, seeing that you're self-proclaimed to be 'intelectual'.
Who bothers about learning Arab ??? A language which hardly worth any economic value and even useful in mastering new technology ? You better learn Chinese lah, it is zillions times more useful than Arab !
so, you wanted to talk about an Arabic word/name, but you do not want to learn Arabic? That's just plain illogical in any sense. I'm beginning to doubt your sanity.
Again, didn't i answer all your queries already ? Pseudodyslexic again ????
No you didn't. If Allah is a moon god, why didn't the pagan chieftains and Christian priests and Jewish rabbis during his s.a.w. time point it out to the public? There ARE pagans during his time and OBVIOUSLY there must be someone who knows about this so-called 'moon god'. Sadly, none pointed it out until today.
And funnily, the person trying to point it out doesn't even speak Arabic.

Are we doing any research paper here, you are really a deluded imbecile, don't you ? Who told you that debating on the web can't quote from Wikipaedia ??? At least Wikipedia is a secular neutral site unlike the site Loonwatch.com which yours truly bretheren sam1528 like to use repeatedly, are you mocking your beloved sam1528 now ???

From the English standard you were presenting and the level of comprehension that you have, I even doubt you even have any formal education at all ! What lah still Allah here and there, it is obvious that you can't understand the excerpt from Wikipedia, where references from reknown archaeologist and scholar in ancient Arabic language were quoted which i posted few post ago, what ??? Is your IQ below 50 or you are just plain pseudodyslexic again ??

No matter how you mock our English, we can STILL speak English and we can tell the differences of the letters in English. What about the Arabic langauge? We ARE talking about an Arabic name/terms here. I believe the majority of Muslims here knows all of the Arabic letters. What about you? Do YOU know Arabic?
Or are you just talking without even the basic knowledge of the English? No wonder you rely on Wikipedia, you don't even know what you're talking. This is so sad; you're no match for us.
Of course i prefer to listen to benign gentiles and believe in the website like Wikipedia. What ? You want me to believe in proven deceptive muslims like Zakir Naik, sam1528 and even you and Loonwatch.com??
AAAAND this shows that you're choosing what you want to believe. It didn't occur to us that Wikipedia is the source of Islamic's knowledge. If this is the case, EVERYONE can be a Fuqaha, a muhaditthun, an ahlulquran, heck even the Pope. One click of wikipedia and WHAAAMMMM you're full of authenticated knowledge.
How much Arab do you know ? Do you think you are better than the references Wikipedia where reknown archaeologist and scholar in ancient Arabic language were quoted ? Who do you think you are ???
Much more than YOU, THAT'S for sure.
Refer back to my excerpt from Wikipedia you pseudodyslexic moron !
The wiki link that you've provided did not explain to us why didn't the Christian priests, Jewish Rabbis and Pagan chieftain did not say anything about moon-god to Muhammad s.a.w. If it does says so, kindly quote it here.
Why i need to speak Arab to know the truth about allah ? Do Buddhists need to know Sanskrit to know Buddha ?? Do you even know what is modern translation ??? You are self-destruct to smithereens !
Because 'Allah' is an Arabic language. Not sure about Buddhist, most of my Buddhist friends do know about their holy scriptures, though they do not study it as extensive as Muslims studying the Quran.
So, you can speak about an Arabic word without actually knowing the Arabic language? And by relying on Wikipedia alone, you are on the right path? Is this your logic?
I think you blew yourself to smithereens, bro. Please stop embarassing yourself by showing us your low IQ AND try to cover it up by insulting us. Won't do you any good other than exposing yourself.
